I mean REALLY. It's a pot of sugar! Jolly nice but hardly a first food, is it?!

know what you mean and they advise not giving cows milk that early!

morningpaper · 15/02/2006 22:11

they may as well put it on Cadbury's Dairy Milk

Don't don't don't.

I have been trying to resist my parp subject all evening.

Anyone noticed Cow and Gate selling Egg Custard from 4 months? Makes me want to scream! And yes, I know it means I should get out more, but I really feel for the inexperianced mothers who are feeding their babies crap because it says they should on the label!

morningpaper · 15/02/2006 22:14

I made egg custard with breastmilk once, in the oven

what fun

yeah - we'd all like to do the puree thing but most people don't have time or confidence to do that stuff - these sugar jars should come with a health warning.

Nbg · 15/02/2006 22:17

It's not just Petit Filous though.

Munch Bunch are doing it and I'm sure I've seen some other cheaper Yoplait yoghurts with "from 4 months" on.

colditz · 15/02/2006 22:17

have a look here

goldstarlover · 15/02/2006 22:18

but you can buy products that have no sugar! mums4 and little rachels yoghurts contain NO sugar (apart from fruit in them)

colditz · 15/02/2006 22:19

Yes but not for babies of 4 months old, GSL!

SL,

There isn't one establishment where I live that sells those products.

I searched high and low for them.

RedRidingHood · 15/02/2006 22:20

Appreciate that but sometimes if you haven't heard of a brand you go for the 'tried and trusted' ones. Plus sugar gets disguised as fructose, dextrose etc

goldstarlover · 15/02/2006 22:20

what do you mean colditz?

goldstarlover · 15/02/2006 22:21

i don't!

actually i used to do as lockets said... plain yoghurt with some puree if i could be arsed.

i wouldn't pick something full of sugar just because i had heard of the brand!

Racers · 15/02/2006 22:23

chicken, lamb, beef?!! sheeesh!

oh marvellous advice here "If your baby is following an organic diet, all you need to do is buy organic ingredients." no shit sherlock

colditz · 15/02/2006 22:24

These companies p!ss me off not because they stick sugar in the product, but because they market it for babies of 4 months old.

Who was it that spotted the weaning spoons from 1 week old or something as ridiculous?

goldstarlover · 15/02/2006 22:26

hunker, of course! lol

colditz · 15/02/2006 22:26

just as flippin bad, for all it says organic on the label

Racers · 15/02/2006 22:28

I know what you mean colditz. They have the next 70+ years to make money out of people, can't they ease off for a couple of months?

Nbg · 15/02/2006 22:29

I have trouble with this.

Now the advice given is to wean from 4 months, yes?

So why do they still say it is ok from 4 months though?

Flossam · 15/02/2006 22:30

NBG, tescos and sainsbury's do little racheal's now. In one of the tescos now you have to look in the organic section (completely seperate from other stuff!). I've never brought petit filous, load of crap!

Nbg · 15/02/2006 22:31

I meant to say 6 months!
