Last time we did the Rainforest cafe, which was great but looking for somewhere different. DD 9 and DS 3. Anyone have any good suggestions? Thanks.

giraffe is good child-friendly chain, with nice food for adults too.

Pizza express on the South Bank - just down from the Globe - great views of the river. Handy for Tate modern, the Golden Hinde, The Clink or whatever. And in that area, some of Borough Market is open on Fridays, and much less crowded than Saturdays.

Wagamama

hoxtonchick · 10/02/2006 19:30

wagamama, if they're into noodles. ds, 4, adores it.

mummytosteven · 10/02/2006 19:32

giraffe. the ones I know of are on on Kensington High St, Islington, and by Spitalfields. Am sure there will be many more!!

bakedpotato · 10/02/2006 19:36

Oh HC, see you there

Mercy · 10/02/2006 19:41

I know some people may not like it but Spaghetti House is usually quite good. The staff are very good with children.

Which part of London are you visiting?

chickaboo · 10/02/2006 20:09

Giraffe is lovely theres also Garfunkels, my daughter loves it, they do reasonably priced kids meals, adults meals are ok but best thing is they serve alcohol! there is one on regents street and one near Trafalgar square, loads of others but can't think where. If you are going to be near knightsbridge planet harrods is great for kids, the meals are a good price, I think £5 inc drink and they do fab ice cream sundaes!

hoxtonchick · 10/02/2006 20:46

absolutely bp! we go to the islington one the most....

spacedonkey · 10/02/2006 20:48

If you're in north London, the La Porchetta pizza restaurants (Muswell Hill and Crouch End and Islington) are great. The lovely Italian waiters make a real fuss of the kids. Easy on the eye too

Wagamama is popular in our house and so is dim sum at Chuen Cheng Ku in Chinatown.
The hot chicken wraps from Borough Market, eaten on a bench in Southwark Cathedral Gardens, can't be beaten on a sunny day (yes even in Feb).

Enid · 10/02/2006 20:54

Harrods kids cafe

another vote for Wagamamas and the dim sum (my and dd1s fave, dd2 and dh not so keen)

spacedonkey · 10/02/2006 20:57

my kids love tapas

there's a good tapas place on earl's court road called La Gallega Rueda

soapbox · 10/02/2006 20:58

I did indeed meet HC at Wagamama in Islington, when I had escaped the office with a friend looking for a good moaning session.

It was a little hard to explain how HC and I had come to meet - in fact I could feel my professional credibility slipping away from me, the more I tried to explain

It was great to see HC though, and she has the best mannered little boy I've ever had the pleasure of meeting and a gorgeous babe too

maomao · 10/02/2006 20:59

There's also a La Porchetta in Camden Town. My dd loves Wagamama, too.

bossykate · 10/02/2006 21:01

agree with giraffe, wagamama, pizza and tapas suggestions. we also like nando's.

Enid · 10/02/2006 21:02

Banners in crouch end

Earlybird · 10/02/2006 21:02

Slight diversion....How old are the children who like Wagamama, and what do they like to eat there?

There's a new one close by, but I hadn't seriously thought of it as a possible destination with dd....who's almost 5...

Enid · 10/02/2006 21:02

dh LOVES nandos bk

Enid · 10/02/2006 21:04

both mine (6 and 3) LOVE wagamamas

they have the noodles with veg (for kids) they usually just eat the noodles though

they also Lurrrrrrrrve those beans you eat out of the pods and I always get two mini bowls and give them some of my ramen soup.

maomao · 10/02/2006 21:05

My dd is 2.5, and LOVES soupy noodles! I think she just enjoys anything that she can slurp.

Mercy · 10/02/2006 21:07

There's often a queue to get into Giraffe's.

What about the cafes in the Science Museum and Natural History museum? Good day out too!

Enid · 10/02/2006 21:07

we are going there (Science Museum) on Sunday

Mercy · 10/02/2006 21:08

Banners? No way!

spacedonkey · 10/02/2006 21:09

the cafe at the V&A is lovely (Valrhona hot choc anyone?)
