or am I the only freak?!!!
As I am having a lazy day today, dinner was a picnic style pick and mix that ds loves ( a few sarnies, crisps, fruit chopped up, fromage frais & salad cream for dips, crackers etc).
My neighbour knocked to borrow something and told me that my sandwich combo was downright weird!! My whole family have strange combinations that they love and I was wondering if we were the local frootloops or if any one else likes strange things.

Why has no one mentioned crunchy peanut butter with gherkins sliced on top?
It's gorgeous, either in a sandwich or as a toast topping. I had it on toasted rye bread for breakfast and DH couldn't take the grimace off his face!

MrsBadger · 30/01/2006 12:44

so everyone eats cheese and jam sandwiches, toast etc?

thought it was just DH - he converted me with the line of reasoning 'well, you like cheese and pickle, and jam's only a sweeter kind of pickle...'

and definitely wensleydale with fruit cake

MrsBadger · 30/01/2006 12:45

oh, and leftover parathas heated in a toastabag and doused with honey
for breakfast
(requires knife and fork)

wheresmyfroggy · 30/01/2006 12:47

everything and anything in a sandwich

Mytwopenceworth · 30/01/2006 12:48

mrs badger - where r u from if u don't mind me asking? my DH insits on wensleydale and xmas cake - as if u do that?? he's a yorkshire man, i'm southern so it's weird to me!

MrsBadger · 30/01/2006 13:45

munz - actually I'm London born and bred - got the idea from a book when I was about 11 and thought it sounded interesting - never looked back!

Think it is something with Yorkshire roots though (if only because that's where Wensleydale comes from)

My Grandmother who was a Lancashire lass used to eat fruitcake with cheese.

Havn't read the whole thread, is this mentioned? The South African's love to have (cold with a bbq) baked beans and sliced up banana. Its actually very nice. Its true!

Mercy - yes! Cooked mushrooms mixed into unsweetened porridge! We tried all sorts of fruit mixed with porridge, but she really prefers savoury, so eventually, in a bid to get her to eat more veg early on, we tried porridge and mushrooms. She absolutely loves it!

oh yes a nice chunk of wensleydale/stilton with a rich slice of fruit cake is yummy!! I like apple with cheese, and crips and chocolate as in a chunk of chocolate in the mouth and then a crisp straight after

Heinz tomato soup with tinned tomatoes topped with cheesy wotsits. Not sophisticated but very delicious!

Also fishfingers sandwiches with plastic cheese and tartare sauce. White bread a must.
