Hi, I have been inspired my M'netters who menu plan and have decided I am going to start and get organised.

I'm a bit bored by what we have on a weekly basis anyway and was hoping for a definitive list I could then use and rotate weekly/monthly/whatever.

Oh by the way I'd really like uncomplicated, tasty quick dishes.

Thanks.

wraps
use the natural spices fajita seasoning you get at supermarket, add peppers, onion and chicken/and or kidney beans (cheaper )
Fry then serve with warmed wraps mixed salad. salsa, sour cream etc
Everyone adores it in this house
For younger kids mix the spciy mix in with soem yoghurt or sour cream to reduce the spice level
my dd is 3 and loves it!

Hulababy · 23/01/2006 21:07

Not exactly 'foodie', but ds's will always eat spanish omelette with baked beans, or moussaka (dead easy yogurt, egg and grated cheese topping!)

When dh and I can't be bothered to cook we have baked potato with tuna, mayo and sweetcorn, which ds's will join us with. Or canned mackerel, boiled rice, kidney bean, tin tom, little fried onion and fennel seed, steamed broccoli - just chuck it all together and heat through... - all store cupboard stuff so useful the day before you go shopping!

My dd's favourite at the moment is corned beef hash with baked beans - clears the plate every time.

She also likes chicken casserole, stew and dumplings, spag bol, fish pie, chicken risotto, and macaroni cheese.

Furball · 24/01/2006 12:13

My ds loves chicken fajitas

I just chop chicken and chuck on the foreman grill for about 5 mins - heat the wraps in the microwave. I buy a fresh four dip mexican selection from Sainsburys, put a dollop of the sour cream on the wrap followed by a teeny bit of the salsa, grate a little cheese and add some of the grilled chicken pieces. Serve with a few homemade wedges and sticks of carrot and cucumber to dip.

Furball · 24/01/2006 12:16

kebabs also have a very high novelty factor. Normally put mushrooms, sweetcorn, pepper, chicken, tomato and courgette on a skewer, drizzle some oil and cook in the oven for 30-35 mins

Bozza · 24/01/2006 12:16

meggmoo - what would you classify as non-kiddy? I give mine everything that I eat myself. I do occasionally ease up on the spices slightly but that is all.

MistressMiggins · 24/01/2006 12:19

cooked chicken from supermarket
home to cook potatoes & veg & gravy
kids love tearing the chicken off although have to watch them otherwise they eat so much chicken they dont want to actually sit down & eat !!

I tend to give them what I fancy - cooked chinese the other night as I want them to like that !!
DS struggled with the chopsticks though

Frenchgirl · 24/01/2006 12:24

we eat a lot of things already mentioned
could add salads (dd loves home made french dressing, so lots of combinations go down well): lettuce, toms, avocado and chicken or tuna; grated carrots (w or w/o grated apples); fine green beans, toms, ham and cheese; roast potatoes with garlic (still warm)
also roast chicken with roast pots, toms and onion (with a bit of stock, olive oil and parmesan, v v nice)
chicken breast with lemon, olive oil and garlic
Soups: we love spiced chick pea moroccan soup

The waitrose mag site is great btw for recipes, have a look here

Frenchgirl · 24/01/2006 12:26

pureed veg is also great when you just have simple grilled steak: carrot puree, leek, celeriac, etc
