Trouble is - you just can't beat a cheese toastie!! We bought a cheap sandwich toaster for the Christmas period specifically to be able to have cheese toasties!

I sometimes add tomato, pickle or red onion.

busybusybee · 07/01/2006 17:01

Hmmmmmmmmmmmm sounds yum - anymore ideas welcome!

stupid question coming up but with things like mushrooms and onions - Do you fry them first?

And can you put an egg in a toastie - sort of like a toasted fried sandwich?

at the idea of "just having a Barry"

Re the pain of cleaning is it not very easy if you wipe it with kitchen towel whilst still warm - ie before the goo has had a chance to stick like weetabix sticks to highchair trays

clean amchine whilst still warm -- use hot water and a brush if really bad, or just wipe over with kichen roll and a little oil

we grill steak and tuna in our George Forman and it is really easy to clean as above

iota · 07/01/2006 17:16

and if you don't get around to cleaning it until later, REHEAT IT

Eve · 07/01/2006 17:17

Goats cheese and red pepper

busybusybee · 07/01/2006 17:20

I am going to compile a list of all these fab suggestions for publication in our family recipe scrapbook!

hot cheese and pickle or ham and pickle

Mercy · 07/01/2006 17:28

You don't need to cook onions first, just slice finely.

Cheese and chilli relish/jam is quite nice, also cheese and Worcestershire sauce
