Hi all,

Less than a week to go and I am starting to think about pancake day. Just wondered what your favourite filling is?
I much prefer savoury pancakes, peanut butter is a favourite, or cheese but I'd like a bit of inspiration please Smile

Sorry, can't beat sugar and lemon for me

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/03/2011 21:48

Hot smoked, honey and mustard salmon, creme fraiche and a squeeze of lemon juice.

or

Greek yoghurt with fruit and honey.

or

Lemon juice and sugar.

I love pancakes :)

worm77daisy · 02/03/2011 21:48

Maple syrup, banana and squirty cream. Nom nom.

McDreamy · 02/03/2011 21:49

Lemon and sugar here too!

DUSTIN · 02/03/2011 21:50

Nutella and whipped cream.

TaffyandTeenyTaffy · 02/03/2011 21:53

I love savoury ones - mushrooms, ham, grated cheese and a tomato sauce - or creamy mushrooms.

Strawberry Jam and squirty cream with some choc chips for good measure for pud

Yummy

worm77daisy · 02/03/2011 21:55

God that salmon one sounds delish, not sure I can wait until next tuesday now!!

MerryMarigold · 02/03/2011 21:55

Another sugar and lemon fan

Also Nutella

Can't do savoury - just taste wrong.

sharbie · 02/03/2011 21:56

fresh lemon and lime juice and sugar

BuzzLiteBeer · 02/03/2011 21:58

savoury...garlic mushrooms or cheese and ham, preferably buckwheat though

sweet...classic lemon and sugar, or banana and nutella, or bananas foster, or maple syrup.

SecretNutellaFix · 02/03/2011 22:00

nutella and ice cream, but only one as it's quite rich due to the half jar of nutella I use on each

or lemon and sugar

Jojay · 02/03/2011 22:00

Nutella, banana, ice cream. Yum yum Smile

I agree, savoury is wrong, though the kids like cheese and ham - weirdo's Grin

sharbie · 02/03/2011 22:01

as lemon and lime is so yum i wonder what orange wd be like - not juice maybe zest

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 02/03/2011 22:03

sharbie - orange juice is v.nice actually, has always been a favourite of my Dad's :)

Curlybrunette · 02/03/2011 22:09

Mmmm the salmon one does sound delicious, and mushroom, ham and grated cheese.

I don't really get the sugar and lemon thing, the sugar is too grainy.

Caster sugar is better, don't like the thought of savoury ones.

My favourite has to be cherry pie filling though Smile

missnevermind · 02/03/2011 22:38

Mmmmm peanut butter and honey.

sharbie · 02/03/2011 23:04

will try this yr then - thanks ali

Rillyrillygoodlooking · 03/03/2011 04:29

golden syrup for sweet

cheese and sweetcorn for savoury.

Or pancakes with a spinach and ricotta filling, rolled, topped with a hard cheese and then baked.

PenguinArmy · 03/03/2011 04:41

My colleagues swear by bacon and chocolate

Old housemates used to like crushed creme eggs

Personally I'm a lemon and sugar girl all the way

GotArt · 03/03/2011 04:43

ARGH!!! Those are crepes, not pancakes! Grin I'm Canadian, so I've gotta say nothing better than syrup poured liberally over them till they are practically swimming in it, from MIL's BILs trees in Ontario... the guy is in his 80's and he still goes out on his little ATV and taps trees and collects sap and boils it down and cans it. Its divine. Grin But for crepes... nutella and banana all the way!

Rillyrillygoodlooking · 03/03/2011 04:45

Nope, they are still pancakes I'm afraid.

BuzzLiteBeer · 03/03/2011 09:04

No, they are pancakes, as distinct from american pancakes. They are only crepes if they are the super-thin french ones like crepe suzette.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 03/03/2011 09:58

GotArt - I'm sorry but they are pancakes Grin Crepes are lovely, but an entirely different thing!

I do like american pancakes as well, syrup and sausages is my favourite accompaniment for those :)

GotArt · 03/03/2011 21:35

I know... we just call them crepes if they are remotely thin and you roll them with goodies inside.
