xmas pud & brandy butter for the traditionalists.
A chocolate ice-cream bombe for the DC.

blametheparents · 20/12/2010 16:23

Christmas Pud - not very inspirational!

Baileys cheesecake lovely and a bit fetive too (and very easy)

Spidermama · 20/12/2010 16:25

A choice of Christmas pud or Sticky Toffee pud with fudge sauce and cream.

No brainer IMO.

AMumInScotland · 20/12/2010 16:27

A choice of Christmas pud or sherry trifle - whole family of traditionalists Grin

ChippyMinTurnAgainWhittington · 20/12/2010 16:29

Mmm, sherry trifle - will have that for Boxing Day I think.

senua · 20/12/2010 16:29

Is this a trick question?
What idiot wouldn't have Christmas pud (apart from DS, that isHmm)

And sherry trifle at tea-time.

sleighBELLasringing · 20/12/2010 16:30

A cranberry & orange torte and a lemon cheesecake. Both can be made the day before.

We will have the christmas pud in the evening.

GetOrfMoiLand · 20/12/2010 16:31

I don't bother. We will all be full from 8 milliom mince pies for breakfast, and a massive great big christmas dinner.

Will have cheese and bicsuits a few hours later.

We do have christmas pudding, but usually eat it at about 10pm one night after a few drinks.

sleighBELLasringing · 20/12/2010 16:31

I did lemon posset last year with shortbread biscuits - very very easy and another one you can make the day before.

ItsKurriiiistmas · 20/12/2010 16:31

We always have trifle, and have a Christmas pud. at New Year. Can't manage Christmas pud. after Christmas lunch Grin

sleighBELLasringing · 20/12/2010 16:32

For which ja9? Lemon possett, cranberry torte or the lemon cheesecake?

domesticsluttery · 20/12/2010 16:43

Christmas Pud with brandy cream, and ice cream with festive sprinkles for the DC.

Then trifle on Boxing Day.

Then christmas pud ice cream (christmas pud mixed into nice vanilla ice cream then re-frozen) on the 27th.

Then mincemeat bread and butter pudding on the 28th.

I do like my puds! Xmas Grin

SantosLHalper · 20/12/2010 16:44

Christmas pud and chocolate cake.

sleighBELLasringing · 20/12/2010 16:47

Lemon Posset

I didn't make the biscuits - I bought some posh shortbread biscuits to save on time.

I too served the posset in wine glasses as in the recipe (mine are wine tasting glasses - a bit dumpier than a champagne flute but slightly fatter in the middle iykwim). Once they were set (doesn't take long) I put some fresh whipped double cream in a piping bag and piped a huge swirl on the top which brought the dessert level to the top of the glass - they will sit happily in the fridge for a couple of days.

LoveMyGirls · 20/12/2010 16:50

Jamie Oliver made a pudding last year and it's amazing imo.

You slice panettone and lay in a glass dish, spread jam on it then put ice cream and sweets or glace fruits or whatever you like inside then more ice cream then put a layer of panettone on top then you pour some cherry or whiskey round the edge so it soaks in then wrap in cling film and put in the freezer until an hour before you want to eat it then just before eating you turn it out and pour melted chocolate over it. YUMMMMM!!!

ja9 · 20/12/2010 16:52

sleighBELLasringing - i meant the lemon posset, thank you... although missed your post about the cranberry torte... would you mind linking me to that as well?

really, like the look of the lemon one... especially if it can be made couple of days ahead...
