Oat porridge made with milk and water with a few raisins ....

RobynLou · 08/11/2010 19:15

boiled egg and soldiers

JustKeepSparkling · 08/11/2010 19:15

I know so are we.

When DH is here he does porridge, pancakes or boiled eggs & soldiers.

I'm a) not a good cook & b) not a morning person so am sticking with cereal-toast combo for now.

HeadFairy · 08/11/2010 19:17

Dd (10 mos) ready brek

ds (3) whatever takes his fancy, usually a combination of toast, dry weetabix minis, bananas, raisins or biscuits (he sneaks those when I'm not looking, I find the crumbs later!)

SparklyJules · 08/11/2010 19:17

Cereal or porridge, they don't like change!

They do like boiled eggs and soldiers, or scrambled eggs or pancakes but only AFTER their cereal or porridge!

LittleFriendSusan · 08/11/2010 19:17

Mine have one (or more) of the following: cereal (shreddies, oat crisp, weetabix or crunchy muesli type stuff); porridge; bagel / crumpet / toast / toasted muffin; pancakes as an occasional weekend treat! Generally though, it's cereal!

JustKeepSparkling · 08/11/2010 19:18

I used to eat some microwave porridge things, can't remember what they're called now?

RuthChan · 08/11/2010 19:18

I make porridge and then mix it with mashed banana and apple puree to give it fruit/sweetness.

As a treat, they sometimes have french toast/eggy bread. Again I spread it with banana or apple.

strandeadatsea · 08/11/2010 19:18

Toast - either plain or with butter, jam, peanut butter or marmite

Bagels

Porridge

Cereal - honey nut Cheerios, Special K with strawberries, sometimes weetabix or rice krispies.

Pancakes (the american kind - from a mix, very quick and easy)

deaddei · 08/11/2010 19:19

Ds has 4 weetabix and shreddies- dd has porridge.
Haven't got time to cook anything- nor am I inclined to.

RuthChan · 08/11/2010 19:19

JustKeepSparkling

I make normal porridge in the microwave.
It's much quicker and easier than using a pan on the hob.

looseleaf · 08/11/2010 19:20

Pancakes- make the batter quickly the night before and usually put 2 eggs in instead of one to keep her fuller at nursery! Otherwise cereal but some quite sugary ones like crunchynut cornflakes as she otherwise can't be bothered with breakfast despite my efforts.

GailFawkes · 08/11/2010 19:20

DD1 and DS don't like porridge although DD2 will tuck into a bowl. Unfortunately DS is allergic to egg although my DDs love them.

Pancakes are a hit at the weekend, maybe I should organise myself more in the morning and make some Blush

JustKeepSparkling · 08/11/2010 19:22

RuthChan - what kind of proportions?

brimfull · 08/11/2010 19:23

pancakes or
bacon buttie

NonnoMum · 08/11/2010 19:23

Usually cereal and toast but their favourite brekkie is a nice bit of bacon...

Followed by a bit of apple ("skin off, skin OFF")

Keep trying them on eggs.

And they like sausages as well.

PavlovtheCat · 08/11/2010 19:23

toast
porridge with cooked fruit
hot weetabix
scrambled egg on toast
at the weekends a fry up Blush Grin although tend to not fry it other than eggs
eggs benedict (minus the hollandaise sauce for DS who is only 11 months) (again at weekends).
Cereal

PavlovtheCat · 08/11/2010 19:24

oh yes, pancakes.

Breakfast burritos are a big hit (with the adults!) and the kids get a bit of it too.

MrsVincentPrice · 08/11/2010 19:26

All of the above + fruit / yoghurt / slice of cake or biscuit if there's any in the house (button that judge face - how's it different to a Danish pastry?) / reheated crumble and cream / last night's popadom or prawn crackers from adults' takeaway / raisins / cashew nuts / dried apricots.
Can you tell that we're not much for routine?
DS went through a phase where he had to have three things for breakfast - he didn't care what they were as long as there were three different bowls or plates of stuff (very small ones obv).
Oh, and olives, when in doubt olives .... And cheese.

monkeybumsmum · 08/11/2010 19:30

Porridge with honey...

JustKeepSparkling I do normal porridge in the microwave too (must be to do with Belgium not selling OatsoSimple Grin ) We do 1/2 cup of porridge oats, and then 1 cup of milk (you can use water but doesn't really appeal). Bang it in for 2 1/2 to 3 mins and bob's your uncle.

It is quite a large portion though, so you could always do less - just do double the amount of milk for the amount of oats you use.

monkeybumsmum · 08/11/2010 19:30

Btw a cup is 250ml Smile

MiniMarmite · 08/11/2010 19:32

Porridge, +/- bananas and golden syrup, blackberries, raspberries, raisins etc

oatibix/wheetabix

doves farm cereal flakes

yoghurt and fruit with muesli on top

toast and butter with marmite, lemon curd, peanut butter, jam

bagel or rye bread with cheese spread and ham

boiled or scrambled egg

sultana bread and butter

BollocksToThis · 08/11/2010 19:32

Porridge - I do it it the microwave, just a wee heap in the bottom of the bowl, maybe 3 or 4 tablespoons of oats, then milk to cover it plus another splash. Micro on max for 1 minute, stir, then another 30-45 seconds. I tip it into a fresh dish and mix with more milk to cool it quickly.

Francagoestohollywood · 08/11/2010 19:40

Ds: toast with butter or cereals and milk or biscuits dunked into tea.

Dd: toast with Nutella or toast with ham. A small glass of freshly squeezed orange juice.
