Spoilers fine by me, too. I’ve only been able to discuss it with DH and he comes from the viewpoint of changes to the backstory from the graphic novels etc. Interesting, but I think the film went much further than that.
Apparently, the fact that The Joker killed Thomas Wayne wasn’t ever a definite, so the copycat from the riots worked perfectly in this.
Anyone else notice he spoke like his Mother when he ‘became’ the Joker for his big TV appearance?
His laughter was a natural reaction to the state of the world imo. Every bit of awfulness, every bit of violence, made him more powerless.
I did my own gasp/laugh at the fact they used a Gary Glitter song for his dance on the steps.
The King Of Comedy is a film where Robert De Niro stalks a famous comedian (Jerry Lewis). Worth a watch to compare how the blankness and unkindness of ‘celebrity’ is developed in this film.
Anyway, I’ll stop now, but as you can see, I have many Thoughts about it
