The Green Mile
Schindler's list
Atonement
The Colour Purple
History of Violence
American History X
Seven

All horror films - accidentally watched a Centipede one and was horribly disturbed

OP posts:

Serbian Film
Human Centipede

MissBax · 05/01/2018 15:12

A Serbian Film. Jesus.

Bambi (saddest film ever)

Watership Down (sad and very scary)

Schindler's List bored the actual living shit out of me. Three hours of my life I'll never get back.

BubblesInTheTub · 05/01/2018 15:18

"Ils" I did watch it again and, yep, it was equally as disturbing the second time around.

Antonia87 · 05/01/2018 15:34

Manchester by Sea. I went out the next day and bought a smoke detector for every room and booked the Fire Brigade for a safety check. I now travel with a portable fire alarm . Didnt help that Grenfell happened the same week I watched it and I had a four month old! There really should have been warnings in the review.

Antonia87 · 05/01/2018 15:38

On the other hand, Watership Down was my favourite film as a young child I watch it every Easter. I never understand why anyone would be scared by it. I actually bought a copy for my six year old God child . Apparently his parents would agree with a few posters on here.

OliviaTheFox · 05/01/2018 15:47

Not a movie but Sons of anarchy.
I can normally deal with violence in things, I know it’s fake doesn’t bother me but that series freaked me right out.

Findingthisdifficult1234 · 05/01/2018 18:25

Human centipede and Pinocchio is horrible too!!

Ratinthehat · 05/01/2018 18:34

I found human centipede not very scary but didn't make it through 5 mins of the second one. It was just grim.

gingergenius · 05/01/2018 19:52

Scum.

Horrible film

gingergenius · 05/01/2018 19:52

And Krampus because it was so shockingly shit!

Carbohol78 · 06/01/2018 13:19

I’m with the OP - ALL horror films!!!! 🙈

Lambside · 06/01/2018 13:47

I think my tolerance of continual violence toward women in particular is down to practically zero. I do sometimes wonder if the male directors, producers and viewers get off on it.

Shakey15000 · 06/01/2018 14:23

I don't think anyone has mentioned Wicker Man yet, with Edward Woodward? Terrifies the life out of me, especially the end.

And that Serbian synopsis Shock There's just no words.

Once Were Warriors I thought, whilst obviously disturbing, was very well made.

quirkychick · 06/01/2018 15:14

I quite like The Wicker Man, I've seen it a few times. Very disturbing, though, I agree, especially the end.

The violence towards women, I agree with, so depressing.

fastfrank · 06/01/2018 15:30

Googled the plot for A Serbian Film and I don't know how anyone could watch that. What is wrong with whoever wrote the damn thing?!

fastfrank · 06/01/2018 15:31

Also agreeing with Scum. Was made to watch it on my media course at college and was very disturbed.

pepperminttaste · 06/01/2018 15:37

I knew nothing about the Human Caterpillar films before this thread. Although I'd heard of them I had (very wrongly it transpires!) assumed it was about some weird caterpillar monster. I have now read the plots of all three and am so shocked! Seriously, who thinks this stuff up?! Shock

Bugaboom · 06/01/2018 15:39

Mine have already been mentioned but The Road stayed with me for ages- completely depressing and wish I'd never watched it. Requiem for a dream- I felt sick watching this. Had no idea what it was and hadn't heard of it. Watched it in a hostel whilst backpacking and it left me cold. .

MarshaBradyo · 06/01/2018 15:43

I haven’t watched the worst ones mentioned and have avoided wiki or any descriptions. Although I know one scene due to a bloody Ikea thread on here of all things

The worst is probably Eden Lake, so coldly horrific

Had to switch off Wolf Creek as I knew it would get too much to forget

lessworriedaboutthecat · 06/01/2018 15:44

I would say Requiem for a Dream and NIL by Mouth. Both films that made me feel depressed to be a human being and alive. The Hills Have Eyes remake was one that I found unnecessarily violent and disturbing.

Sarahh2014 · 06/01/2018 15:44

😁 at people calling human centipede the human catapiller 🐛

MarshaBradyo · 06/01/2018 15:46

Also from a long time ago
American History X
Seven

  • certain scenes from both
lessworriedaboutthecat · 06/01/2018 15:46

Weirdly I wasn't overly disturbed by Wolf Creek. A lot of my friends had seen it first and told how disturbing it was so I think I was psychically prepared in way I wasn't watching the Hills have Eyes.
