All these are TV series, not films:

I Claudius (from 1970s)
Pennies from Heaven (from 1970s)
Curb Your Enthusiasm
Coupling
The League of Gentlemen

All can be watched repeatedly, unlike e.g. Little Britain, which you would only watch once.

Heres recent ones we've had

'Run Lola Run' (subtitled german) different (or weird?) but I liked it
'Freeway' good thriller
'10 things i hate about you' excellent comedy
'Hotel Rwanda' brilliant
'Derailed' OK thriller with good twist DH hated it
'Pans labyrinth' Very good if you can stand the brutal disturbing bloody scenes
'The Island' watchable thriller, DH said not good but I liked it
'Borat' Very funny
'The constant gardener' Very good

Looking at your list hatwoman I would add the BBC tv series 'In a Land of Plenty', think if you like the superb 'Our Friends In the North' you'd enjoy this.
It's a great family saga that spans from fifties to nineties detailing the political and social changes as well as the personal stories.
