I saw this with my 12 & 16yos last night, and soooooo glad I didn't take my 10yo, even though I could have.

Genuinely surprised it's a 12A. Some very gory bits in it in my opinion ShockJust wanted to let others know.

A great film though Smile

As long as that means when I go and see it some appalling family don't bring a small child who kicks my chair and talks all the way through

Unfortunately this happened to me. Little girl probably about 9 or 10 and asking questions fairly loudly through out and then kicking the back of my chair.
I really enjoyed but not as much as skyfall. I did actually really like Blofeld, I did find him menacing in a very subtle sort of way.

Agree though it is not really suitable for under 12s. IMO they should add a 12+ rating because too much slips into the 12a films

Bambambini · 29/10/2015 11:52

Is it really any worse violence or sex wise than CR, Skyfall and QOS? Was hoping to take my 10 and 13 yr old later - they've seen the others and Jurassic World which i think was a 12A.

StillStayingClassySanDiego · 29/10/2015 11:57

I don't think so Bambini, only one scene I found uncomfortable and made me shift in my seat.

bruffin · 29/10/2015 11:58

Not sure it is worse than Skyfall, but the version they showed on tv recently was definitely edited

Tapirs · 29/10/2015 12:03

I don't mind sex related stuff but what was the gory stuff like? Bang bang cartoon violence is ok but I'm wondering about scenes like the one with him having his knackers pulverised on a chair. Anything disturbing like that in it?

bruffin · 29/10/2015 12:08

He is tied to a chair with drills that drilled into his face, there is no blood but it made me cringe and hide.

LynetteScavo · 29/10/2015 12:08

The sex wasn't too sexy (although James Bond sex is a whole other thread!), and the fighting was the usual punching, but it was the coldblooded violence/torture that I thought was a bit much for a 12A.

It's not really the parents fault if they expose their under 12's to it, as they will have followed the ratings guidance.

DD, 11, nearly 12 enjoyed it and wasn't traumatised, not sure I'd have taken a younger child.

madmotherof2 · 29/10/2015 12:43

Hubby took our 11 year old ( 12 next week!) to see it last night, he too was surprised it was a 12A.

I really think there needs to be a 12 and a 12A, there seems to be big differences between 12A films!

millionsofpeaches · 29/10/2015 18:01

We went last night. There was a family in front of us with a little girl who can't have been more than 7 or 8. She looked knackered and actually I think she might have fallen asleep at one point. I suppose they couldn't get a babysitter, but I have to say my judgey pants were chaffing quite a bit Halloween Grin

On another note, anyone else notice the distinct similarities between Spectre and Austin Powers? I wouldn't have been surprised if Bond had stripped off to reveal union Jack boxers and started doing the twist, while calling everyone baby, yeah!

Also what's with M's teeth? Distinctly odd!

What about M's teeth, what did I miss?

millionsofpeaches · 29/10/2015 18:18

I should say I do know that Austin powers is a pastiche of Spectre, but it was everything! Right down to the inept guards, the female member of Spectre being basically frau farbisner, and the lair not a map etc.

millionsofpeaches · 29/10/2015 18:19

M's teeth were just odd. Obvious fake ones to do with method acting or something. Just made me feel icky!

bruffin · 29/10/2015 18:21

Probably still mutating from Valdemont, although i didnt notice them

dalek · 30/10/2015 20:17

Saw it last night - really enjoyed it but agree not quite as good as Skyfall. Really pissed off with the Monica Belluci character - there was so much hype about an older Bond woman - she couldn't have been on screen for more than 5 minutes - and the real Bond girl was disturbingly young - especially as Daniel Craig is now looking his age. That said he is heart stoppingly gorgeous in a suit - less so in the black casual outfit he is wearing at the end. On a bit of a tangent I always feel the same about Don Draper (not Jon Hamm) - so gorgeous in a suit, horrible in smart casual. Jon Hamm as Jon Hamm is always gorgeous.

I do like Ralph Fiennes and am enjoying the badass M but I really missed Judi Dench - think they have made a mistake getting rid of her. Love love love Ben Whishaw as Q.

That's my twopenny worth - off to watch Duran Duran on TGi Friday - have a good weekend ladies.

dalek · 30/10/2015 20:18

Oh also agree M's teeth were a bit distracting.

IndridCold · 02/11/2015 19:18

Went with DH and DS and we all really enjoyed it. The opening sequence in Mexico was stunning, and I enjoyed all the references to earlier Bond films too.

I actually think Ralph Fiennes is a bit wasted as M.

Iken · 05/11/2015 12:37

I agree I was surprised this was 12A - I think it should have been 15

CarrieLouise25 · 07/11/2015 00:12

Thanks for posting this OP.

DH thinking of taking DS13 tomorrow, he watched Skyfall on the TV, and personally I didn't think Skyfall was that bad in terms of violence/sex scenes etc.

I found Casino Royale more violent, and have so far said no to DS watching it.

How does Spectre compare? How sexy are the sexy bits? And what sort of gore scenes are there?

Thank you! Smile

bruffin · 07/11/2015 00:42

The version of skyfall on the tv was edited. The bit where Silva removes his prosthetic face was a lot more graphic, although i cant remember any more differences.

thunderbird69 · 07/11/2015 18:51

I've not see any of the other recent Bond films in full - just seem to catch bits of them on telly. So I don't know how it compares, but IMO the sexy bits are very brief - like the old fashioned style of cutting away after a bit of a kiss and leaving it to your imagination.
There was 1 scene which I did think could be a bit disturbing for young children. I could hear quite a few 'ewwwww's from the adults watching

Topsy34 · 09/11/2015 22:36

We went last night, a bit disappointed. It just didnt work somehow.

Not enough monica Balluci after all the hype, no way enough moneypenny, she was just eye candy this time round, she was fab last time.

Love Q...he is brillant.

CarrieLouise25 · 09/11/2015 23:06

DH and DS went to see it last night. Bit disappointed too. Was gutted for them. DH said was very disjointed, too long, just didn't work.

Shame Sad
