Just finished watching Philomena. Bawling. DH looking at me funny.

I wish I hadn't watched it at all, because now I am sad, and angry at the injustice of it all.

Felt similar after watching The Help.

Any one else get like this?

Kids
Requiem for a Dream

They just suck happiness from you as you watch them.

MistressMerryWeather · 09/10/2015 21:55

Don't even Google it Mrsjay, it's another one about children.

Save yourself!

sliceofsoup · 09/10/2015 21:57

When the nun is in the wheelchair at the end and she is still saying the girls deserved it because they had sex and she took her vow and didn't break it. Fucking bitch. Gaah. I have had happy music on in an attempt to lift my mood but I am still so angry. How fucking dare they just give children away.

I am glad that I know that these things happened, that this is what they went through, and that it can't be burnt and hidden away anymore. But FFS, the fucking nuns lied, years later, and covered it all up. Angry Angry

Goodfellas. I left the cinema. Couldn't take any more of it. I didn't even stop to get my money back. I needed fresh air and normality all around me.

No Country for Old Men shook me and I regret watching it.

Many, many years ago I saw The Ruling Class starring Peter O'Toole. It was just after DD1 was born and I had nightmares about it for many years. Maybe it was the postpartum hormones that caused it to feel so disturbing.

And Au Revoir Les Enfants. Cried and cried.

spankhurst · 09/10/2015 21:57

An old horror film called Suspiria. I turned over to it halfway through and literally sat for an hour too scared to move.

2legit2knit · 09/10/2015 21:58

I left the room part way through Irreversible. After the bit with the fire extinguisher.
Dancer in the Dark is the bleakest film I've ever seen. Sad

InanimateCarbonRod · 09/10/2015 21:58

The Theory of Everything. Left feeling so depressed. I don't even know why it left me so low. DH felt the same Sad

AnyoneButAndre, having children affected my taste in films greatly..

EponasWildDaughter · 09/10/2015 22:00

Oh my god The Green Mile.

I should have known better than to go to the cinema to see that. My friend wanted to go. I'd read the book(s) a year or so earlier and cried so hard at the end that i literally couldn't see the words properly!

In the cinema the tears started as soon as he goes out to see the darn mouse. By half way through i could hardly breath. At one point i actually sobbed so loudly in the silence (actually gasped for breath) the lady in front turned around Blush

When i got out of the cinema my neck and the collar of my top was soaked. I'll never forget it.

It's DHs favorite film! I have watched it with him, but had to trundle off into the kitchen every so often to get through it.

Hellochicken · 09/10/2015 22:01

"Dear Zachary"

It affected me deeply, normally I'm not so sensitive, tho I could cry at a film. This film I think of often and it depresses me, it's a true story/documentary.

Sidge · 09/10/2015 22:02

The Magdalene Sisters. Broke my heart.

Trainspotting. I can't believe I watched it, just an awful film.

Schindler's List. I'm embarrassed to say I knew very little about the Holocaust when I saw it and it left me reeling. I remember seeing it at the cinema and when it ended everyone just sat there for ages in silence before leaving.

Shockers · 09/10/2015 22:04

I watched Scum about 25 years ago. I couldn't think about it without weeping for months afterwards. The thought of it still makes me sad and very uncomfortable, all these years later.

Mrsjayy · 09/10/2015 22:04

2nd or maybe 3rd poltergeist the ghost preacher was truly terrifying i saw a programme about the films and the preacher was dying when he filmed it and died shortly after

TittyBiskwits · 09/10/2015 22:06

The Road. Only had it on ten minutes and had to switch it off.

The Woman In Black. Wasn't scared, but the ending was just...not feel good.

Threads. Horrible in every way.

TheoriginalLEM · 09/10/2015 22:07

Wolf creek- what is wrong with people ?? We turned it on after the beginning. Only realised it was based on a true story when no one escaped. Ducklington heinous film.

I generally steer clear of horror, violence and anything sad.

Doesn't leave much-i hate romcoms

TheoriginalLEM · 09/10/2015 22:07

Ducklington = ducking, obviously Hmm

TheoriginalLEM · 09/10/2015 22:09

FUNKING! !!!

TheoriginalLEM · 09/10/2015 22:10

Oh just fuck off phone Hmm

Palomb · 09/10/2015 22:10

Philomena For me too. Made me detest the Catholic Church even more than I did which I had though was impossible.

I tried watching the first Saw but saw sense and now I don't do horror films. That kid of gratuitous violence is no good for your soul.

MistressMerryWeather · 09/10/2015 22:11

Ducklington :o

I'm in stitches, I love your phone.

Goodforsolong · 09/10/2015 22:11

LittleFishBigOcean yep Me too. I didn't have a clue what sort of film it was, romantic/comedy/thriller my friend just brought it with her one night to watch.

I'm glad I've read this thread, plenty to definitely avoid!

TittyBiskwits · 09/10/2015 22:12

LEM Grin ducklington

OldCrowMedicineShow · 09/10/2015 22:12

Meryl, look away but Sophie's Choice and Mamma Mia (the latter was shite).

Sophie's Choice was magnificently acted but left me in a deep depression for months.
