ja9r, yes, honestly shaun the sheep is fab, if dcs pop it on at a weekend it is one film i end up sitting and watching.

Not sure if it is just you wanting tolimit dvds you have / budget etc tahtmeans you only want to get one film, but if you go in places like matalan / argos where the sell films that aren't brand new releases you'll probget it for about a fiver....

Big Hero Six is a huge favourite here. DH and DC were watching it last night when I came in from work and everyone was enjoying it. Smile

Descendants- a Disney film - all singing dancing. Bought via google play on sat my dds 7 and 10 have watched it about 5 times since.

Iusedtobeapenguin · 06/10/2015 11:17

Yes Hotel Transylvania is good, and for something a little bit more spooky for this time of year Coraline is fantastic too.

Big Hero 6 is also really good - I watched it at the weekend and will warn you now, it made me blub and I am a right hard nosed cow Grin

IsItMeOr · 06/10/2015 12:18

Shaun the Sheep - yes it is that good.

Home is also very good - funny, moving, a bit scary but ultimately a very warm fuzzy message.

Have Hotel Transylvania and Big Hero Six queued up for when DS is slightly older.

Have you already got Paddington?

We also really enjoyed Tintin.

Lynnm63 · 06/10/2015 13:11

I loved Paddington and have done since I was 6. It's not out on DVD yet but Inside Out is brilliant and I will be buying it when it does come out.

TillITookAnArrowToTheKnee · 06/10/2015 13:14

Not new, but we really recently discovered The Book of Life and Rise of the Guardians (Jack Frost, Santa, Easter Bunny, Tooth Fairy - its hilarious and heart wrenching!)

MrsEricBana · 06/10/2015 16:57

Yes to Paddington!

threenotfour · 06/10/2015 17:33

What about the Night and the Museum trilogy. The latest one was out about 2 months ago. They would be good for the whole family.

Yamayo · 06/10/2015 20:47

National Treasure 1 & 2 are great fun. My 9 DD loved them. The double boxset is on quite cheap on amazon at the mo.

FullOfChoc · 06/10/2015 21:00

Old one but we enjoyed Ghostbusters!

lambfam · 06/10/2015 21:02

Never heard of Descendants - just looked it up and I am surprised it suits a 7 + 10 year old. Will try it.
What about Into the Woods?
We are big fans of Paddington here too - I still laugh when I remember the scene in the bathroom and Paddington flying down the stairs in the bath

lambfam · 06/10/2015 21:04

Not a new film, but my DD loves Beezus & Ramona - probably more appealing to girls than boys though

Hobbes8 · 06/10/2015 21:10

I really enjoyed Paddington, although my 4 year old repeatedly explaining why the "bear left" joke is funny took the shine off it somewhat.

Inside Out made me cry twice - damn Pixar! Big Hero Six is quite sad as well but it's really good.

lambfam · 06/10/2015 21:17

Just thought of Annie - the one that was out this year. My DD loved it and I really enjoyed it too - a real feel good movie that had us singing all the way home from the cinema

Yamayo · 06/10/2015 21:21

If you're going oldies let's not forget The Goonies. Or Willow. Grin

Get now TV, you can download the free app on PlayStation or order a now TV box for a tenner. First month free and it's got sooo much more then Netflix. Google it and see the films it has. Book of life is really good.

thefutureofpolitics · 07/10/2015 01:32

Planes, Trains and Automobiles because it was one of my favourites growing up!

roundaboutthetown · 07/10/2015 08:56

I like inflicting films from my youth on the kids - eg Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, Indiana Jones.
