Have you seen "Don't Look Now"?

Came free with today's Observer.
I've been told it's a masterpiece.
I cannot cope with things with dead children in them.
Is it all about their daughter, really, or is that bit just a back story? (Like it was in Dead Calm: they were on the boat trying to escape from their lives after the accident etc.)
Is it worth watching?

Hmmm, haven't seen it post-children - it might be a bit harrowing but iirc it's more about the husband/wife relationship and the spooky goings-on in Venice than the actual death of the daughter. It's a bloody fantastic film, though.

It is a brilliant, brilliant film and worth watching for the infamous sex scene alone! It all hinges upon them as a couple and as individuals after death of their child, but its not about it if you know what I mean. Its more of a thriller than anything else, though.

I'm only really thinking of one scene in particular, Pruni. Agree it's probably worth watching for the sex scene, though - it's excellent Grin

But as I fled the room and sobbed for half an hour at CSI the other night (psychotic mother/dead toddler), I think I might let myself off this one.

That episode of CSI was horrible. Its nothing like that.

DH says it's the scariest film he's ever seen and refuses to watch it ever again
I caught the end on TV a few months ago and it scared the bejaysus out of me

mazzystar, I have heard the rumours but in today's paper it says that Nic Roeg denied it.
It doesn't say it's not true though...

Donald Sutherland has always given me the creeps since I saw Invasion of the Body Snatchers. When he does that awful scream at the end - brrrrr. Much scarier than Don't Look Now.

I really didn't like it for a number of reasons:

1 It has put me off ever going to Venice.

2 I found all the "red" references really unsubtle.

3 I did not like seeing Donald Sutherland's pasty backside.

FWIW you should also stay away from the movie " A History of Violence" as you get more than eyeful of Vigo Mortentson's PBS

I liked the movie although my mum let me watch it far too young and I was convinced the dwarf lived behind her bedroom door for many years

Can see that it's well-made and brilliant but, like Wagner, this doesn't mean I enjoy it.

yes it is the terrifying dwarf one. the only bit I've seen is the end and I refuse to see any more of it
