I made it through the whole film without weeing (quite a feat for 6 months pregnant ).

It felt a little rushed, but I did enjoy it. As with all HP films, you need to go in ready to watch a film, and not an adaptation of a book, and you will be fine! I used to get worked up at how much change, but since starting with that view, it makes it all enjoyable.

So yup, loved it - the darkest of all so far (but then so is the book)... I do think the 12a rating is a bit steep, but since I don't actually have an 8 - 12 year old, I'm probably not much of a judge!

The rest of you - enjoy it when you get there!!!

Watched it first friday night and was a little dissapointed as they seemed to have misse lots of bits from the book so went back and watched it last night (yes I know I'm sad) and saw loads of things I missed from fri night. Subtle acting and things and realised its different style of filming and absolutely loved it thought it fantastic!!!!!!!! Definately reccommend watching it for a second time

you're welcome

Blandmum · 20/11/2005 16:15

Just got back, and we all enjoyed it.

neither of my two (nearly 9 and nrealy 6) were too frightened. I would say that if your kids can cope with Dr Who then they will be OK with HP4. Much of the detail went over ds's (6)head, but there was enough action to keep him entertained

flamesparrow · 20/11/2005 17:19

Lonelymum - It is sudden, but clear what has happened even though there is nothing graphic(iyswim) - they see the curses early on, so should know what has happened.

Flash of green and it was over.

IMHO the underwater stuff was more scary

Tamba · 20/11/2005 23:55

I just got back from Harry Potter and thought it was fab!!!

I cried at the Cedrick bit though

Thought it was really funny in places to

Frenchgirl · 21/11/2005 09:42

Saw it saturday and loved it!! Dd (6) had read the book so knew what would happen, only got scared during the underwater scene when harry gets caught by those weird octopus type creatures (she knows the name, I can't remember....). She loved it too. I want to see it again

Nbg · 21/11/2005 09:48

I am so of all of you thats been to see it.

I'm not going to be able to go till next week

Springchicken · 22/11/2005 10:16

Am off for my dose of HP tonight with my mum - how sad will we look, 2 grown women going to the cinema togther with no children in tow.
Am soooo excited, I know I will cry at the Cedric bit, I have read the book 3 times and cried every single time at that bit.

Tamba · 22/11/2005 12:04

It was just me and DH that went to see Harry Potter, when booking tickets i said "2 adults please" and she said "ok so thats 2 adults and 2 children" umm no, just the adults lol

I really want to see it again!!!

I cant believe i cried though, DH laughed at me!

yingers74 · 23/11/2005 13:56

it was brill, saw it last night and my haven't they all grown!!!!!!!!! That cedric was rather a looker too. sigh if only i was a teenager again. Cried too, also cried when i read the book though!

chipmonkey · 23/11/2005 14:24

Loved it, agree it was a bit "rushed" compared to the book but if you were to be very true to the book the film would have to have been in 2 parts. Ds's (9 and 7) LOVED it!!

yULeYSEES · 23/11/2005 16:55

I went last night with DSs aged 8 and 5. 8 year old enjoyed it but was scared. 5 yr old wasn't scared at all but was a little bit bored. He sat through it all though. Dh is away so I had to take DS2 but he was too young IMO.

I must admit I prefered the last one. Thought the underwater scene was really awful. Can't say too much as don't want to spoil it for others. I appreciate it was cleverly made but not really for me.

hana · 23/11/2005 17:21

how can a 5 year old get into a 12a movie? just curious

Blandmum · 23/11/2005 17:22

12a means that kids under 12 can get in but only with an adult

hana · 23/11/2005 17:23

oops
just answered my own question!
can't wait to see it with dp this weekend!

merrygoround · 24/11/2005 22:17

Saw it tonight at last and thought it was fantastic, the best of the films for me. Some of the effects were totally spectacular, I have no idea how they pull it off. The chase with the dragon for example was amazing, as was the setting for the Quidditch world cup. The bit where Hermione appears with Krum at the ball was a favourite - didn't she look gorgeous? Do you think that the same three "child" actors will make it into the next film?

saltire · 25/11/2005 09:44

I really enjoyed it. However my husband, who hasn't read the books didn't get a few bits of it, so had to explain it all to him!! I didn't think it was a "scary" as we had been led to believe, however i don't think I'll take my Ds's (7and5).
Think Dan Radcliffe has improved as an actor, but I just don't like Emma Watson as hermione, i find her very unnatural
