Saw this article by Jameela Jamil and thought "oh my god, how have I not made this connection myself...?"

Wondering if this could be posted in the style and beauty topic?

Ah shit! We let pedophiles decide our beauty standards.

Post the release of the harrowing Epstein files, and the powerful men in media and fashion, considered possible accomplices, it feels fair to say this with more gusto!

I thought for several years now that hair and make-up styles are (ridiculously) strongly influenced by drag queens and porn.

TansySorrel · 18/02/2026 15:32

That's a good article. She makes valid points. Thinking back to when i was a teenager, children's body shapes were very much in fashion for women, although you were expected to have breasts. No women's thighs/hips shapes allowed. I was under 9 stone, yet was ashamed of my thighs and constantly dieting. Ditto being expected to be hairless

Shoebags · 18/02/2026 15:34

Great article.

Sundayponderingday · 18/02/2026 15:37

Fantastic article. I totally agree.

CrustyBread1977 · 18/02/2026 15:39

I love her. She’s so articulate and so ANGRY!

snowibunni · 18/02/2026 15:39

yup - agree

My 19 year old is clued up about this subject so hopefully the next generation will be loud.

ClaudiaCasswell · 18/02/2026 15:39

Shame it was written by this grifter. She is not to be taken seriously.

What makes you say that?

HollyGolightly4 · 18/02/2026 15:44

Such a great article, thank you for posting!

Mithral · 18/02/2026 15:47

Brilliant article thanks for sharing.

Two points.

A. Fashion, specifically, has favoured an androgynous shape for women since the 1920s. Currently models have to be UK size 6 to 8 and 5ft 8 to 5ft 11, which is very thin.

B. If general beauty standards are based on a childlike appearance, how do you account for enhanced boobs and bums?

User253853 · 18/02/2026 15:56

I'm surprised she wrote it. She's generally all "be kind" and "save the dolls"

Gnomer · 18/02/2026 16:19

Seems like a complete load of drivel to me. Body positivity was a marketing ploy in itself, Dove were all over it. It meant instead of having thin unhealthy models you had obese unhealthy models, not sure how that was any better.

Thin models started in the 20's, designers say that clothes just hang better on them. It wasn't some Epstein paedophile ploy.

She just puts 2 and 2 together and comes up with whatever the hell she likes. She's always talked a whole lot of shite IMO and she's always 'angry' over something.

Skybunnee · 18/02/2026 16:34

I think the transgender phase changed fashion -women wearing trainers and no stilettos. Also long tumbling tresses -no cropped hair unless you’re gay. Fewer plunging necklines, fewer skimpy clothes. Actually that is more because of sexist men.

WallaceinAnderland · 18/02/2026 16:36

Well, yes, this has been pointed out before on mn but women insist they like being hairless.

It's cleaner apparently - except for men or hair on your head.

LightningMode · 18/02/2026 16:46

Oh god, not Jameela Jamil 🙄

She's seen that her "body positivity" grift (even though she has never been plus size) has now ended because of weightloss jabs.

She says she's standing up for women, whilst stating that men can be women 🙄

"I want to attract a man who likes women."

Yes, well, you're going to have to tell what you think a woman is then, Jameela.

"Body Positivity died because not enough people joined the movement out of fear of the consequences of disobedience."

No, Jameela. It died because it was only about people trying to make themselves be happy about being overweight. The minute an option arrived, with weightloss jabs, that lie died.

IF YOU WRITE IN CAPITALS AND SAY 'FUUUUUCK' A LOT IT DOESN'T MEAN YOU ARE INCISIVE OR SAYING ANYTHING WORTH SAYING!!!

LightningMode · 18/02/2026 16:48

Are men who shave their faces somehow playing into a paedophile culture?

TheCriticalThinker · 18/02/2026 16:48

Jameela Jamil? Isn't she that trans activist grifter who said everyone at her school in the 90s was on puberty blockers? The one that posed with pics of that Muscato bloke?

WallaceinAnderland · 18/02/2026 16:49

It's socially acceptable for men to have pubic hair on show.

Why do some men shave their faces? Is that a paedophile thing?

Shudacudawuda · 18/02/2026 16:53

I do like this from the article:

"Why is it a brag to lose weight straight after pregnancy? After your body has created a human inside? Why is the brag not the baby you made? Why is it how fast you can “bounce back?” as if you didn’t just pull off a miracle?"

Yes, and has been loudly vocalised since 2nd wave feminism so it’s not new.

Though it’s good to see it being revived by younger women in the midst of the terribly modern Pomo feminism of North America and Sussex/London today.

Sorry, what does this mean?
