Charity for endometriosis appoints a trans woman as CEO.

What a time to be alive.

Just finished listening to WH. I'd like to know how many biological men suffer from endometriosis. Anyone know? Is this really a thing?

hannahwaddinghamsbiceps · 15/11/2023 13:19

GC people have never opposed anyone's right to exist, or anyone's human rights.
What upsets me as a GC woman, is having my rights trampled over by anyone, because someone else feels that they need them too, even if not entitled to them.
If I need or want a female only support group, sport, prison or healthcare, I have the right to those things without a male bodied person assuming they can also be there because they identify as a female despite biology showing otherwise.
I cannot identify out of my sex, my race and my disability so why should others have the option of choosing any or all of those identities if they want to.

It would be fine for a man or woman with relevant experience to take this role.

But not a man without any medical knowledge, who only wants this opportunity to play at being a woman to prove he really, really can.

It's an insult to women. Disgusting.

The website says "1 in 10 people are diagnosed with endometriosis".

Is this even accurate? I thought it was 1 in 10 women that had endo? Subbing in the word "people" literally changes the statistic...

Well since he and his supporters have started, endometriosis has gone from 1 in 10 women, down to 1 in 20 people, so there's a result 🤣🤣🤣

WeighDownOnMe · 15/11/2023 13:27

And especially this man who loudly proclaims his hatred for GC woman publicly.

I mean, let's say 50% of women are GC. Is it ok for the head of charity that explicity exists to support women with a specific health condition, to loudly and proudly hate half of all women who might need to access it?

(I made up the 50% thing for ease of course.)

Dontmesswiththeyakult · 15/11/2023 13:28

Madness.

The issue is not that a man or woman would not be capable of performing well in this role so much as someone caught up in gender ideology and related politics should be absolutely nowhere near a health charity, least of all one for a health issue affecting mostly (over 99%!) women.

I do not for one moment believe this person suitable for the job. Erasing women's language is absolutely unacceptable.

tiredofbeingadmired · 15/11/2023 13:31

Just awful. A completely unnecessary piece of stupidity from the charity. Why would you ask a trans activist to run a women's charity fgs.

BigMadAndy · 15/11/2023 13:48

🤦🏻‍♀️

Mitherinmolecules · 15/11/2023 13:50

@Torymory I don't even think he's Labour Left tbh ,unless you mean the Corbyn kind and most of them have left Labour. He didn't like me as I'm old fashioned Labour Left( Soft Left) and refused to fuss over him and tell him his make up was wonderful. I had enough when he was elected Women's Officer over women who had been there for years and sent off to Conference all expenses paid. He is only interested in trans issues and uses political parties and groups as a way of pushing this agenda. If the Tories offered him a front page , he would take it.

ZiriForGood · 16/11/2023 00:46

Just listened to the Women's hour interview.

The issue isn't sex and gender of the CEO, the issue is, that they puts men and trans activisms before women on a very women's topic.

And it was funny how Richard mentioned Stonewall as an example of trans charity.

Littlepinkstarsbyradish · 16/11/2023 02:06

From my understanding of this, the person in question has stepped up due to the previous CEO’s health issues but has been part of the team for a while and was specifically asked to take over by the team

im just glad that anyone is working to get more recognition and funding for this condition. I don’t think you have to be able to have a disease to care that those who do have it are treated fairly and with dignity? Straight people are often trustees of lgbt charities? The ceo of a major prostrate charity is a woman??

why are we giving her a hard time for charity work??

Aliceinnorthernland · 16/11/2023 05:19

I've just looked at their website. I can almost hear them tying themaleves in knots on how they could avoid the word 'women' on a website about endometriosis.😂

' I don't think we should just refer to women , because you know trans men might have endometriosis so we don't want to exclude them with our language do we ?'

' You're so right.. Hmm. I'll say 'women and trans men'.

'Oh no. That will exclude men. We can't have that .'

'Men? How can a man have endometriosis?'

'Of course they can ! Outrageous to forget the men . There's 29 of them who have something similar. They must be included I tell you'.

' OK. We'll just leave the stat about 1:10 women getting endometriosis and change it to say 'people'. Close enough. '

The headlines are just a shortcut.
The issue is that this transwoman is a known trans activist and doesn't even see endometriosis as "women's issue". Together with the language used it doesn't serve women.

Hear for yourself (it's just 20 minutes, not the whole hour).
