My girls are 10 and 8 and really into Taylor Swift. I’ve never really listened to her music before but her lyrics are amazing, she’s so talented and I’m just so happy that women like her are here to be role models for my girls.

She did that already, they weren’t on Spotify for about 3 years and she got Apple to change how they pay by taking her music off.

I do both tbh, streaming is just so convenient, but I buy cd’s too, especially from smaller artists.

I used to use my Alexa but we've fallen out so I don't any more. It used to be if you said 'Alexa, play Elton John (or whoever), she would play Elton John...now...she says 'shuffling songs by Elton John and other similar artists' and ten minutes later you find yourself listening to the Lighthouse Family. For anything else Amazon want to subscribe to Amazon music and they get enough money out of me via Prime as is it.
Back to the cd player. It I rip them to my phone and use that #luddite

I randomly came across TS’s “Wildest Dreams” today and it is a COMPLETE rip off of Lana Del Rey’s “Without You” - I’m surprised Lana didn’t sue Taylor.

Yeah people pointed out there was a resemblance at the time, but Taylor’s said she’s a Lana fan a few times and they’ve collaborated on Taylor’s last album, so I’m assuming it’s not a rip off situation tbh.

Oh I had heard about that but never heard the Lana song before. I can hear the similarity of the chorus. I love the Ryan Adams version of Wildest Dreams too. I don’t think I’d notice the similarity to Without You from that version so maybe it’s more to do with the production of the song.

I really love the Wildest Dreams video too 😳. Anyway I guess Lana doesn’t mind as she presumably wouldn’t have collaborated with Taylor otherwise.

Sorry but I am struggling... Her voice doesn't stand out, very bland... Music not particularly memorable.

I can't stand Rhianna either. I suppose horses for courses.

I've enjoyed rereading this thread. I also have two daughters who love Taylor. I love Miss Americana - so many important themes explored there. Hadley Freeman wrote a column this weekend about how TS has got her through a tough year. Hadley compares her to Madonna which I think is justified. Sorry I don't have a share token to share it.

I can't wait to see her in June and am planning to make feminist themed friendship bracelets.
