Naked Education: Men strip in front of school girls

Has anyone seen the new Channel 4 series 'Naked Education'? I've just seen the trailer, and it seems very much in the same vein as 'The Family Sex Show'. Interspersed with platitudes about body positivity are some rather disturbing scenes, including one in which three men strip off in front of a group of schoolgirls.

I can't work out how to link the trailer, but if you Google it, you'll find it. He're a glowing review from the Guardian, with a rather creepy byline: 'giggling blushing teens!'.

Naked Education review – the look at pubic hair is wonderfully revelatory

Giggling, blushing teens! Unbridled nudity! It’s yet another Anna Richardson show about nakedness, but surprisingly, this one features genuine moments of wisdom

Yeah well it's disgusting, grooming, titivating for perverts, but we're not really supposed to point that out. How low can our society sink?

Jackiebrambles · 05/04/2023 22:46

Thank you for this thread I tried to look to see if one was started on this topic! I saw this on Twitter today, really concerning I thought but I haven’t watched it. I think naked attraction is a rancid show but at least everyone is over the age of consent!

beastlyslumber · 05/04/2023 22:49

What the fuck?

Violetparis · 05/04/2023 22:51

Young teenagers being filmed looking at naked adults, all kinds of wrong.

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 05/04/2023 22:52

Channel Four used to make really good educational and arts programmes. Now it’s just a soft porn channel. Why do we have to subsidise this through the licence fee?

cestlavielife · 05/04/2023 22:53

It says, three women and one man
"They’re impressed just by the sight of three women and a man lifting up their arms, to show eight pits all naturally, beautifully hirsute."

Meredusoleil · 06/04/2023 08:10

I watched this and was also looking for a thread on it. Was slightly surprised by what I saw tbh, but think the idea behind it is good. Not sure I would want my own 14 yo on it though!

Jackiebrambles · 06/04/2023 08:27

I think the idea of showing real bodies with body hair etc instead of porn is a sensible one. But ‘live’ and to underage kids just seems a step too far. I mean nobody would be happy if their 14 year old’s form tutor got his kit off during a sex education lesson would they??

WarmWinterSun · 06/04/2023 08:28

The show should be cancelled. Surely it isn’t right to film and broadcast teenagers looking at naked bodies.

Meredusoleil · 06/04/2023 08:30

Also, I think I was surprised because I didn't think they would show full frontal nudity before the 9pm watershed. There weren't even any warnings beforehand. Except the title of the show, which I suppose is a big giveaway!

MaggieThatchersFridge · 06/04/2023 08:47

I haven’t watched it- I generally believe you should watch something before criticising it, and I still do- but I just can’t bring myself to watch it at this point.

I know this isn’t ever going to be possible but as I get older I find myself wishing the age of consent was 18. I know it wouldn’t ever work. I just finding myself thinking sex should be kept to adults and the line made clearer. Sex is brilliant and fun but it’s also powerful isn’t it. Children aren’t ready for it, their brains aren’t equipped.

I agree with you about the age if consent. People are still considered children up to 18, so why is the age of consent 16? It means a very grey area for 17 year olds imho.

Helenahandkart · 06/04/2023 09:02

But children are looking at dreadful hardcore pornography when they’re still in primary school. Raising the age of consent doesn’t stop children from being exposed to sexual imagery. The internet has made sure of that.
I watched the programme last night and didn’t find it alarming at all. The children were looking at naked bodies, but there was no sexual element to what was happening. It was a live biology lesson really.
I thought that it provided the children with a healthy view of what naked bodies really look like, rather than the peculiar images they’re constantly exposed to in pornography and advertising.
It was pretty tame really.

purpleme12 · 06/04/2023 09:06

I thought it was good they were taught about real naked bodies too.

WildAloofRebel · 06/04/2023 09:08

Yeah I was saying to DH I wouldn’t be happy about that. Also there’s a new ‘Naked and on the Run’ show or something - who in their right mind would be up for running through the country naked? If a naked person walked past my garden while my kids were playing there I’d be horrified. That show surely attracts weirdos.

Clymene · 06/04/2023 09:10

Why do children need to see naked adult bodies?

Clymene · 06/04/2023 09:11

Every time you go to the beach you see that most people don't look like porn stars.

dramalamma · 06/04/2023 09:16

But they're not young children - sure if they were 5 year olds I wouldn't like this but it's exposing 15 year olds to what a variety of normal bodies look like in a non-sexual way. The young people are near the age of consent and it's about understanding their own bodies in a context where they're generally only going to see pornographic images and images of supermodels online - it's about helping them to see what is normal and that they are normal and don't need to change themselves to look like the images they will inevitably see online at some point.
I watched it with my 13 year old who was interested and it sparked some
Good conversation. He thought it was great - completely not in a sexual way but as education which is what it is trying to be. If you don't feel you'd benefit in self esteem by seeing other normal bodies being accepted and not judged and in a supportive positive environment.....then don't watch it!

Couldn't agree more. I watched it and thought it was pretty good tbh

BadgerFacedCoo · 06/04/2023 09:20

I wonder how they worded the request for volunteers to show their naked bodies to children.

Children see too much inappropriate content, the answer isn't showing them more nude adults and filming it for entertainment.

namitynamechange · 06/04/2023 11:08

The title is an odd choice as well. Like its a follow on/spin off from Naked Attraction - a show that is definitely adult entertainment and all about sex really.

Crocodilekneecaps · 06/04/2023 11:12

I liked it, particularly the women talking about how pregnancy changed their bodies

Zodfa · 06/04/2023 11:25

It's completely non-sexual, is it? Hormone-soaked 15-year-old boys get to look at a real naked woman and none of those boys has even a fleeting sexual thought? The blokes volunteering to strip off in front of underage girls are completely definitely 100% not doing it for sexual reasons?

But you do not see it, it is pixellated out over boobs and penis
Plenty clips showing this

What do you mean? There was no pixellating in the episode I saw!
