Ah! The Patient Griselda Good Girl Cookies!
You know, the 13th legend about the women who's husband tests her patience and devotion by making her hand over her children to be killed, (he actually hides them from her, just seeing what a good girl she is), and pretends to divorce her and marry a better woman, and then makes her prepare and organise his wedding celebrations to this new woman and be a servant at it... and then at the last minute goes 'only kidding, I see you are sufficiently good enough to marry' and lets her now grown up children see her again.
And for some reason she marries him as oppose to cutting his balls off and stuffing them down his ears.
At least in the story.
But yes, women with peculiar martyrdom problems seems a long term issue. You can check on the MiL threads here, there will inevitably be some twit saying that so what if the MiL burned the house down, sold the goldfish into slavery and ate the children: the woman obviously doesn't like her (crime! Burn the witch!) and normal women would be grateful.
Thank God for the relationships board.
