It’s devastating to think what teenage girls are making of the anti Amber Heard misogyny right now

i don’t follow celebs, but I’ve experienced DV, and I’ve been watching some of the depp v heard court footage.
It just struck me today, as I walked past a group of teenage school girls: The absolute wall to wall misogyny that is all over social media. It must be both terrifying and also hugely gaslighting to them. I worry how many at vulnerable age will just internalise this woman hatred rather than be able to stand up to it and see it for what it is.

i don’t have a teenage daughter. those that do: how are they seeing this? how do you talk to them about it? I don’t care if the ruling goes against her (I’ve seen enough of the evidence to be very certain he was abusive and clearly violent, but I don’t have faith the jury will agree) it’s the wider impact on what this has shown about what the world thinks of women that will have a bigger impact

I haven’t seen any posts that support her simply because she is a woman many claiming this so the case though

I’ve seen many posts that are concerned about the impact of such high profile trials have on woman. Men are not vilified in in the same way. JD is being hero worshipped and AD is likely to be living in fear such is the hatred directed at her.

Was Harvey Weinstein vilified in the same way? Does or has Roman Polanski had to have protection for to so much hate directed at him (a child rapist)

this has got to stop it’s dangerous for all women

it’s nothing new just we have sm to stir this up even more

That’s if you feel he is completely innocent

many people do not think he is completely innocent but have sympathy for him less so her and see their relationship as toxic. I think that is the majority of peoples opinion so why the hero worshipping? it’s there in black and white to see his views about women again why the hero worshipping?

Harvey Weinstein had many many women making accusations against him

Men are not vilified in the same way why pretend they are. We all know Roman Polanski was guilty no excuse for those who supported him it’s was for their own career.

This onslaught of hatred towards AH which is very much fed into by the right media is purely misogyny and hero worshipping of JD is dangerous for woman

Did Harvey Weinstein victims get treated the same way as JD is now have their careers sky rocketed ? The answer is no

HRTQueen · 01/06/2022 07:58

And we believe you it’s allowing victims to talk about the abuse they suffered without the questions of what were you doing/wearing/drinking ? The We believe you is important is it not?

it doesn’t bring cases to court it allows a space for victims to be believed

My teenage DDs don't know who these people are and are not taking interest in the case. I know who these people are and am not taking any interest either.

My dd is 13. She said the other day in school a boy pushed one of her classmates. She said 'ow, that hurt' and he told her to 'stop being an Amber Heard'

This televised trial has been a win for misogyny. The :'global humiliation' JD wished on AH, has happened on a grand scale. Probably better than he could have ever hoped for.

It has done absolutely fuck all for victims of domestic abuse.

There are no winners here.

I'm adding this to the list of "things that didn't happen so much that it made real things unhappen"

If anything good can come of this, it might be greater awareness and understanding of personality disorders. They are serious mental health conditions for which we don’t have enough treatments. They cause extreme suffering to the people who have them and those around them. Often people write off the sufferers as beyond help. It’s very tragic. I’ve seen it lead to death. We are seeing serious illness on display in this trial.

I think this whole trial has shown that relationships aren't always what they seem and that DV isn't gendered, as in most relationships involving violence are a result of both parties not just one. Of course sometimes this isn't the case but speaking generally.
