This is how quickly Snag Tights are rolling over to males with kinks

Just had the misfortune to stumble across their social media. I work in the same field and was researching something and came across this little exchange .... I know MN are having paragraph issues so apologies if this is one long block of text!

Instagram user (male) .... could you remove the word 'women's' when referring to your tights? If we are wanting to be more inclusive, we could start there.'

Snag ... yes we absolutely agree! We will get this feedback sent over to the team. Thanks for the amazing feedback, we want everyone to feel included.'

They then go on to reassure another commenter called 'pretty fat boy' that they'll look into change all their packaging asap.

The world has gone quite mad hasn't it? And yes, I know men can wear tights. That's not my issue. My issue is these blokes with obvious kinks and fetishes requesting the word 'women' be erased to keep them happy.

Thoughts?

Wear whatever you want but hectoring women on a feminist forum is your worst look so far.

Well, it does seem to be the case that only certain types of feminism are allowed on this board, which rather devalues it. Worrying about men in tights when abortion rights are under attack and women ate still getting fired for being pregnant misses the point. If calling that out is hectoring, call me Hector.

Allowed? You seem to be having a fine old time on the feminist boards. Yes, you got me, in my little woman brain I only have room for the creepy tights guy argument.

Definitely not a 50 year old woman that’s campaigned for a few decades on the numerous, and worsening, crises impacting women’s reproductive health, education rights, rights to name and organise themselves, to access single sex services, the list goes on. Good to know you have those concerns too and are not just hectoring women. I’ve said my piece on this thread now though.

Presumably the requesting the reference to women being removed is because they enjoy the dominance of making a request and being pandered to over the target market, along with a nice dollop of publically indulging their fetish via a customer service agent and social media - male pattern behaviour. When companies then obsequiously capitulate, those men will stop buying anyway because it’s not fun wearing items that are actually aimed at them vs belonging to women.

Meanwhile, their actual original customer base has gone elsewhere.

This 100%

also it’s interesting that it took one comment for them to remove the word women yet if you look at their instagram page, all of the marketing images are of… you guessed it… women

And now Snag Tights Facebook group is full of male fetishists. Whoever could have predicted THAT?

I hope the tights tug down and end around d their knees from being too short for them, given they were made for women.

Let Snag make do with their new client base while women find other tights.

SquirrelSoShiny · 20/10/2024 15:04

I won't give them my money. Someone suggested another brand who made better quality tights but like the original Snag tights. Can anyone think of which brand it might be?

RoseslnTheHospital · 20/10/2024 15:04

It's "Better Tights" I think!

Their statements are very ‘inclusive’ regardless of gender and they don’t appear to use the words ‘women’ ‘woman’ and don’t have a Maternity range either.

GoldenGate · 17/01/2025 20:21

Snag tights are by far the best fitting tights I've had. The only real need to state "womens" is when its obviously cut for the female shape like tops/jeans which have male and female cuts for that reason alone. In this case I'd have taken "inclusive" to mean catering for women of different shapes and sizes and who can argue with that? If some men find them suitable, well do we have a problem with tights being unisex?

I want tights that are designed for average women’s height and hip to waist ratio. That way I know they aren’t going to be saggy or fall down because the waist is almost the same size as the hips.

TrainedByDinosaurs · 20/01/2025 16:04

GoldenGate I’m curious why you don’t think average height, leg length, hip to waist ratio, foot size and torso length differences between men and women are irrelevant for how tights fit? Because regardless of shape and size differences between women the above makes a bigger difference overall.

I won’t buy from Snag tights because if their tights work well for male bodies I know they aren’t going to fit well on me and saves me wasting my time and money.

Exactly! There are manufacturers out there already who make men's fit tights, mainly aimed at men who know they have different bodies and want tights that fit for dance, theatre, health or warmth reasons.

Porcuporpoise · 21/01/2025 08:29

So are you saying that Snagg has changed the fit of their tights so they are essentially less suitable for women? Because this thread was started to discuss changes to their marketing.

TwentyKittens · 21/01/2025 09:46

I'm a woman with a drawer full of Snag tights. Their fit is amazing, the best I've experienced, so I'll continue to buy them. I like the way they do their sizing.
