How long does PND last?

Is it possible to still be suffering from PND 3 years after the birth?

It can certainly last well into the second year in my experience (and yes then they class it as depression not PND) and I'd really advise you to go to your GP and discuss it.

I spent the first year of my daughter's life knowing things weren't right and when they diagnosed me a year later things had got quite bad. I think it started off as hormonal around the birth and have been told it also sprang from the trauma of an appalling birth and after-care experience (which I can only now bear to type about).

However as a Mum you (usually) carry on coping so it can get masked and let's face it, all Mums are tired and emotional at times so you start doubting yourself.

Leave child/ren with someone else so you can really talk to the doctor. All the best.

Am sure it is. How long did you take tablets for?

bananalover · 03/07/2010 23:24

took them for about 6 months.

They do say some people don't react to some types of the tablets.

Anyway I wouldn't think it bad if you went again and described how you feel now.
