I'm on day two of a very low dose for anxiety and I'm feeling drowsy and a bit crap tbh.

Also I've been googling lots of horrid side effects (I know, I know, never google )

"Our review supports the conclusion that antidepressants generally do more harm than good by disrupting a number of adaptive processes regulated by serotonin. However, there may be specific conditions for which their use is warranted (e.g., cancer, recovery from stroke). We conclude that altered informed consent practices and greater caution in the prescription of antidepressants are warranted."

It takes a good week or two to get used to it. You may feel 'foggy' for a long while. My advice is to find the right time daily for you and take it like clockwork. If you start missing doses the side effects/ withdrawal effects get worse then better then worse again and it's quite nauseating- both literally and figuratively.
When you decide to come off, do so under supervision of GP. I have taken citalopram about 5 times, and last time I assumed that I had weaned myself off as I was taking it sporadically for the last few weeks, so I just stopped. Huge mistake. I was almost manic; full of rage and taking risks such as erratic driving and being rude to management at work etc. It really affected my personality.
I hope it works well for you, it's certainly saved me many times in my life.

I must say I'm very impressed with how fast this medication works. Surprisingly, within 2 days my symptoms decreased tremendously and I started to feel like my old self again which is a huge relief. I've tried other past antidepressants with no success and that took weeks to get used to and had such funky side effects. So far, it's been 5 days and I haven't got any side effects from Citalopram. What I did this time around trying a new antidepressant was on day one - take it slightly before bedtime just to see if I was going to have side effects like making me tired etc. which it didn't. The next day I took it mid-late morning after I had a small bite to eat. It seems to work better with my body chemistry - https://healthful-online.com/c2831/citalopram.html

Hi, im on citropram for 22 days nows. I had side effects right up to 3 weeks, tremours, anxiety throu roof, fear, worry and stress and crying. Past 2 days ive felt calmer and im hoping now im on my way up. Ive never had tabs like this before but after a stressful situation my mental health was extremly effected. I read all side effects on different forums and boy i was hit with them all, i stuck throu this and now im on day 22 and im hoping ive had a breakthrough past 2 days. Dont give up is all i can say, i was ready too but stuck to them till now and going to carry on. Make you worse before better they say and i have to agree!

Do you mind me asking if you take it in the morning or the evening?

Old thread i know. I started on 10, doctor wanted me on 20. Scared to take 20 for side effects. I do already have my own thread but just wondered if anyone had amy advice. I have been taking 15 for about 10 days now i havnt really had side effects just renching on a morning and heightened anxiety on a morning which seems to ease and then come back at tea time. Dont know if its the 15mg or just my anxiety! Hard to tell. I take at night for any side effects. When do i go to 20? And as anyone had side effects from upping dose by 5mg x

Hi there, I totally get it! I'm on Celexa (Citalopram) too, and honestly, it's been a lifesaver for me. But yeah, in the beginning, I had some side effects—felt kinda out of it, a little nauseous, and just… weird. But listen, that’s just your body adjusting. Give it some time, and things should smooth out. For me, after a couple of weeks, I felt so much better—calmer, more in control, and just generally myself again.

One thing I will say—make sure you’re using good-quality Citalopram. It makes a difference, trust me. If it helps, I can share a reliable pharmacy where I get mine. They always send high-quality and effective Citalopram: vitacourier.net/buy-celexa-uk.html.

Hang in there, you’ve got this! And seriously, stop Googling the horror stories—most people only post when things go wrong, but plenty of us have great experiences. 💛✨
