Male PND resources sought

Hello, i've searched the archives but not located anything. A very dear contact on another board suspects her other half has some form of PND. Main symptom is rejection of their little new baby and mourning for previous life. Can anyone recommend any resources online or in realy life I can pass on to her?

Many thanks in expectation.

Know APNI - Association for Post Natal Illness can offer support for partners. I used them for me and they were great. Will do contact by post, email or phone.......sorry for lack of any more info but hope this might be of help.

If it helps on a concrete level, to get used to the 'loss' of prior liberty / spontaneity, could NewDad maybe plan a fun trip / break over Xmas for himself or the whole family ? Something that lets him know he's still 'got a life' so to speak ? Perhaps a bigger trip for all next Summer, when the babba is older ?

Was there any specific aspect of 'life before babe' that he particularly misses or feels bitter about losing ? Could he maybe be worried about the financial implications, long term, or is more an emotional / loss of 'self' type thing ?

Sorry can't be more helpful...

cheers h2d, i'll pas that on too. not sure about the specifics of what he's missing, but one of the ladies on the board is a psych it turns out and has convinced the woman concerned to view it as adjustment and not PND and that seems to have helped. it's just she's our board mod and such a lovely woman and tho we've never met i hold her very dear somehow...

pretty much like the way i do love to cackle at you on a weekly basis....

LOL. Hope NewDad's 'adjustment' goes well.

OMG - you have time for another board ???? (is that even allowed ?

It doesn't kick off like this one tho . Its as nice as pie instead!! Also, it has a slightly more obvious variety of people: class, age, location. Fun.

Has he been to see his GP? Maybe regular treatment for depression would help, ad's or counselling definitely.
