SO i finally made an appt at DRs, only problem is that its 3:50 and i have to take the DCs as DH working. How can i ask to go back on ADs and not go into too much detail. I don't want to tell everything anyway - I am almost 100% that they will have to inform someone else and there is no way i want my children taken off me or even "monitored". However, i need ADs that work quickly and want to avoid the SH question.

Could you write to your GP and give salient points in writing at start of appointment? Am sure they will be sensitive to presence of your children and not ask anything inappropriate. Good luck.

SagacityNell · 14/06/2010 13:55

I don't know which DR I am seeing - i got the last emergancy appt and in trying to get an earlier time, i forgot to ask who it was with. Hopefully they will read my noted from the last appt and be sensitive to the fact that my children are there.

I am starting to feel sick now. I can't cancel can i?

NO please don't cancel. How old are your children. If they are old enough could they not stay in the waiting room (you could maybe ask the recep to keep an eye on them) and if they are younger, they won;t really be taking much notice of your conversation - take some toys they can take in with you.

You are are feeling sick because you are anxious about the appt but please don't cancel

Hope you are soon feeling better

DCs are 7, 5 and 2. Can't leave them in waiting room. They fight a LOT at mo and DS2 is a runner. And i don't leave them in teh care of strangers. I know i am a freak.

Just saw the other part of your message where you were wondering bout "someone" being informed. I think you MUST be totally honest with the GP as how else are they going to know how to treat you. Please be assured that social workers will not jump in to remove your children. Their job will be to support you and the children in whatever way they can.

SagacityNell · 14/06/2010 14:37

I can't be totally honest. I just need ADs to function right now and will consider the rest at a a later date. Having teh children in with me is a blessing really, it means that i can't let anything slip.

How did it go?

SagacityNell · 14/06/2010 19:54

It was really hard. He tried to push ED counselling but i don't want that and tried to refer to counselling but i don't want that. Am to take mitrazapine and have to go for blood tests tomorrow to rule out a physical cause for long term depression.
I'm really worried that i said too much. He asked about SH and although i played it down i shlouldn't have said anything at all.

fuck.

Bit rich coming from me but is hard for them to deliver effective treatment and avert a possible crisis if they only get small part of the story.

How do you feel about going to BEAT groups? Used to be EDA, they can be very supportive.

SagacityNell · 14/06/2010 20:07

The ED counselling was to be 1 to 1 at an ED unit once a month and a group session weekly.

It;s not something i want to recover from right now. I know that makes no sense. I just want to stop the feelings of wanting to kill myself.

It makes sense to me. My daughter spent 5 months in an ED unit and is currently in adolescent unit, probably been about 8 weeks now, under section. It's definitely something you have to want to recover from - maybe when the depression improves the feelings and behaviour around food will become more manageable too?

SagacityNell · 14/06/2010 20:15

I think i may have spoken to you about your daughter when i was a member before MI.

I was on a childrens ward when i was younger. I have battled my food demons for 20 years now. Sometimes even gone looking for them.

I remember that post, not very good with names unfortunately - these issues rarely seem to go away completely
