My 1 and 3 yr olds are crap sleepers.Have tried all the usual etc etc
The main prob is how it affects me though in the day - i amsooo tearful and depressed ad emotional -
left work at 9am today purely coz was so emotional and tired and overwhelmed.
I am thinking of quitting my p/t job but don't now whether it's a lame reason to jack in my 'career'

i wish i could just have a fry up/coffee and get on with it followed by an early night (i.e. as partner does) but it makes me feel TRUELY terrible.

anyone had similar - have been to gp, on meds etc etc - but sitation continues...

An amino acid called Tyrosine can help with sleep deprivation, it seemed to perk me up whe I started taking it.

Hi shazzg I sympathise too. You will find there are quite a few MNetters on here that have suffered very badly from sleep deprivation.

In my case it was more due to insomnia rather than my DD keeping me awake but I guess the end result is the same.

Lack of sleep truly does distort your perceptions and makes everything 10x worse. I used to get overwhelmed by a feeling of "not coping".

It does seem a shame to quit your job because of this - your DC are still very little, I know you've probably been told this and are sick of hearing it, but it's probably a phase they will grow out of. School and pre-school usually sort out poor sleepers so I'm told (tho I know that seems a long way off when you are so very very tired)

Also your job is probably good for you in that it takes your mind off your tiredness and gets you out of the house. They say that having a job can help improve depression (as long as it's not a really stressful job obviously)

Take care
x
