Does anyone know if St John's Wort is effective, or if there are any other alternatives to anti-depressants I can try?

think that zinc and fishoils can help with depression.

multivit containing iron might not be a bad iron too as you are veggie.

WWB - how are you getting on with the St John's Wort? Yesterday I started St John's Wort (tincture) and feel so much better - it's amazing. Just wondering how you're doing?

It's not doing much for me at the moment, I have to say, although horseshoe did say that it took three or four weeks for them to kick in for her.

MTS, I didn't know that zinc was meant to help; I'd heard about fish oils but don't really want to have to take fish if I can help it. Is it the omega oils that help, do you know - because I think there are vegetarian sources of omega oils.

I'm feeling as if the only real answer at the moment is to go back on the ads, and I really don't want to unless nothing else works.

WWB - B vitamins are meant to help. I've seen a Nutritional Therapist who has "prescribed" Magnesium, Essential Fatty Acids (these are not fish oils and are vegan) and extra B Vitamins. It's worth seeing a NT if you can as you may be deficient in other minerals that can cause it. My zinc levels were OK, but Magnesium was very low.
