37 weeks pregnant and have the crisis team coming round

and just a little bit

Terrified they are going to put me in a hospital or something. But also terrified of just carrying on like I am at the moment.

Having 20+ panic attacks a day and awful obsessive thoughts.

And just been told that the peri natal cpn has been axed as a cost cutting measure

oh jesus what am I going to do if they commit me

Hope you're okay x

they won't 'commit' you.

if you are ill you go to hospital. same as if you had appendicitis you'd go to hospital.

do you know if there are any mother and baby units anywhere near? (although I do know someone who went recently from the south west to coventry because there was a bed available).

and ask the crisis team to find one with beds available. where you and your baby can stay together and be looked after and get the treatment you need.

sherby · 16/03/2010 17:24

well crisis team didn't show up

no phonecall, no visit

can you phone them back?

really sorry you are having such a hard time.. if you need inpatient treatment , then you need it. there is a mother and baby unit naer me IIRC.

crisis time might just be running late?

sherby · 16/03/2010 17:29

TBH I don't think they will want to offer my inpatient treatment I think it is just all wrapped up in my anxious thoughts.

GP said it is a quick way to get a referral to the CPN

Have spoken with GP again, she said they should've called by 12 and that their offices are closed now

for you. surely the point of a crisis team is to offer support now during a crisis.

will you be able to case tomorrow?

yellowcircle · 16/03/2010 17:35

Are the thoughts and panic attacks being caused by the pregnancy? Because if so, they can induce the baby straightaway. I had mine induced at 37wks for other reasons, but they do it anyway. Do you think it would improve if the baby was born and the pg hormones dissipated?

sherby · 16/03/2010 17:35

I know, it is a good job I am not about to go off myself and have lots of family support here with me

OP posts:
sherby · 16/03/2010 17:37

yellow, no, I have had OCD/obsessive thoughts for years but the hormones make it worse

TBH the thought of the baby arriving when I am in this state scares the hell out of me

Hi, crisis teams are a 24hr service - if you phone your out of hours dr's number they will get you the number of the service. Sometimes crisis team members forget to pass on messages about seeing people if they run out of time.

Or you can phone or visit you local hospital and ask to see on-duty workers... they may be able to offer you real help and support in these final weeks and maybe keep you out of hospital or provide extra support when you give birth.

Or could you contact your midwife tomorrow to chase up crisis team or visit you?

All the best

Thanks for the advice everyone

Spoke with my GP today, she chased the crisis team up. Anyway they had decided that I was not in crisis and have refered it on to the CMHT, so I should hear from them in the next 3 weeks

My waters broke this morning, so looks like the baby is making an appearance some time soon
