Need some reassurance, getting myself really worked up

DD had her jabs yesterday and is so poorly. She has a high temp, crying lots and won't take her milk although I did manage to get her to take a bit of water.

I keep trying to tell myself that it is normal to be like this after jabs but I suffer with really bad anxiety and I am getting myself so worried about her. I keep imagining that the vaccines have damaged her or something.

Don't even know why I am writing this really, can't phone DH as he has an important meeting at work today. Just getting myself really upset about it all and wish I never ket her have them done

Hiya are these her first jabs? Sounds like it could be the second lot when they tend to respond quite strongly as their system is gearing up. Some kids react like this, I'm sure she will be better tomorrow. Give her plenty of calpol and cuddles and as much fluid as you can and try not to worry (said one anxious mum to another )

Jabs introduce a safe form of a disease into your child's system and the fever is her system responding appropriately. You only need to worry if calpol doesn't reduce her temp or she persistently refuses fluids. Water is fine.

willsurvivethis is right, there's really no need to worry, although we have all been there so I know what it's like. My DD had a vomiting bug last week and for several days wouldn't eat or drink. I was so worried, but she really bounced back very quickly and is making up for her not eating now by eating like a horse!

I'm sure tomorrow your DD will be much better. If you really are worried and it's causing you to feel really unwell then a quick trip to the GP may well put your mind at ease.

Hi guys, these are her third lot, she was fine with the others. She has taken a bit more milk this afternoon and have actually managed to get her to take some calpol.

Her poor little legs have big red lumps on them . I'm so glad this is her last lot for the time being, just really struggle with stuff like this.

Thanks for your replies. Sometimes I just need someone to talk sense to me!

Glad you're hanging in there - my ds always gets rock hard lumps on the injection site.

it does actually get a bit worse with the second and third lot as her immune system is building up, has already encountered the attacker before and responds with heavy artillery.

I'm sure she will be lots better tomorrow and you will be pleased with yourself for handling it.
