Issues with drink

Before dd I regularly drank and was into binge drinking.
Tonight I had a bottle of red wine to take the edge of things. I only wanted a few glasses. How can I stop drinking so much.
I only have 1 bottle a week so it's not dabgerous yet.

One bottle of wine in a week is not dangerous. It's not even past the government guidelines.

Sawyer64 · 12/12/2009 01:38

It is above the guidelines if drunk all in one day. This is also termed "Binge drinking".
Recommended limit is 2 units a day.

Do bear in mind that the 'recommended limits' are in fact sexist bullshit and completely made up ie based on no research or information whatsoever. Drinking loads may not be very good for you, but the actual amounts vary depending on your health, bodyweight etc.

i would thinkg that as long as you are not regularly downing a bottle of red per night then you would be OK. I drink a couple of glasses at most most evenings

For me, it's not about the amount, it's about the reason I'm drinking and the after-effects, if you're questioning your drinking there could be a root cause, are you trying to escape/fix feelings, etc?

poshsinglemum - where have you gone?!

expatinscotland · 16/12/2009 10:11

it's a problem if you think it is.

MIFLAW · 21/12/2009 01:21

Ignore the binge-drinking guidelines, they are horse shit.

As expat (and others) say, it's about how it makes you feel and how it affects the rest of your life.

Having said that, "it's not dangerous" yet is not a good way to think. Any amount is dangerous if what you do afterwards or during it does not mix well with drink.

In other words, amount is massive red herring. Focus on consequences.
