Hi,

Dont know what to do. I have had depression for years and am geting help from provate counselling, howver i am still suffering. It doesnt seem to relieve it for me. Yes i know where it has come from and yes i know how to hekp myeslf in the future (being assertive, talking to people, letting people know how i feel ect) but i still feel low, tired, moody, irritable and grey.

Would sertraline help me or am i just using a sticking plaster and copping out? ;(

Hi, so sorry to hear you are feeling low.

I was prescribed sertraline (Lustral) after both my births as I had Postnatal Depression.

They were, for me, an absolute lifesaver.

They do take a while to kick in, and obviously don't work for everyone, but perhaps you could make an appointment with your docs, discuss your feelings and see if he feels they are appropriate for you.

Out of interest, when you specifically mention sertraline...have you had those in the past?

It's just that there are so many different types of anti d's out there, they might not necessarily be the right ones for you anyway...trial and error!

Depression is such a horrid illness but it is treatable....we might struggle through and think we can cope, get over it ourselves, come up with all sorts of strategies but sometimes we just need that little bit of extra help.

You certainly should not have to live with it.
