I was diagnosed with depression and started on 10mg about 20 months ago , wasn't enough so went up to 20mg, then 30 and now about a month ago up to 40mg. Each time I feel better for a couple of weeks but then gradually the bad feelings come back. I am worried i will just be constantly upping the doses forever...

I was feeling very well the past couple of weeks but now starting to feel down again. I did drink quite a lot at the weekend so that didn't help - is drinking a bad thing with citalopram? I am guessing it is but is it so bad that you shouldn't do it at all?

yes, definately one to look into further in therapy

glad the nausea is gone, I would just sleep as much as you can until the exhaustion goes too...a bit of extra sleep is always good for the soul...

Hi peanut!! Glad you've got an appointment even if it is in May! I do think seeing if there's a cancellation is a good way to go - you seem much more upbeat about starting therapy. Sometimes I think it's the anxiety about doing something new and wondering what you are meant 'to do' that is the most worrying thing about starting therapy. TBH there is no real mystery about it. Hopefully you will develop a good professional bond with your therapist - and treat him/her like your best friend/priest and talk away about anything and everything! Maybe you will have to lie on a couch for the session, or you could be sitting face to face - it all depends on their style, and ultimately what makes you feel comfortable. So if they do offer you a couch and you'd prefer to sit, do say so! Though sometimes lying on a couch when you can't see your therapist and only hear their voice is a good thing - you can relax more and really it is like talking to yourself!

Pleased to hear also that you've decided to cut back on alcohol. As for being teetotal - it shouldn't be seen as a negative thing! Think about all the headaches you'll avoid!! Getting pissed doesn't equate to having a fab time... I dont get the opportunity to go out and get blocked anymore, and personally I prefer it that way. But can still enjoy a few glasses of wine, or a bottle of Magners at home... what I'm really looking forward to is getting the opportunity to order a Mojito!! Only about 6 weeks to go now!!

Hi Divedaisy

yes, am feeling much better now about it all. Have been off the booze for three weeks now I think and I don't miss it a bit. Also have been doin sort of detox thing last two weeks. Have lost weight and feel more alert all round. Things have been a bit hairy at work and the dr wanted to sign me off with stress but I decided to try to stick it out another while. We'll see. Am feeling better able to cope though and far fewre black moods. Thanks for all your support. Hope you are enjoying your last few weeks before baby comes...have a lovely weekend

Peanut, I'm so pleased to hear you're feeling much better at the moment. I agree with you about staying at work for a while - so long as it really doesn't become a negative in your life - as sometimes it is better to have some structure/direction on a daily basis giving you things to do and a reason to do them! Going off work on stress could depress you further! But saying that it is a fine balance, so listen to yourself and give your Dr's advice some thought too!

As for baby coming - I'm really feeling the 'big, bloated, uncomfortable, frumpy......' stage, and really can't wait to meet this new addition!

I'm still looking forward to having a Mojito! Hope it is as good as I'm imagining!!! HAve a lovely Easter! xx
