Getting so stressed about driving in the snow - making me panic

I hate driving at the best of times and am a very cautious driver. I have not been out in my car since the start of the snow, luckily dd's school has been closed. Tomorrow morning at 9.30am dd2 has physio at hospital and it is a good 30 mins journey in rish hour up and down many hills. I am so scared I am feeling panicky at the thought of it and just want to phone up and cancel the appointment. The roads will mainly be gritted and dh has driven to work these last two days but I am so scared of losing control and crashing the car .

I'm probably replying far too late for this message as you've most likely all ready set off. I just wanted to say you are not alone - I am very similar. Fog and ice are my 2 worst nightmares and to cap it all I have panic attacks about hubby driving in the ice too.
I'm sorry i'm not any help at all - just wanted to say I can sympathise with how you are feeling

I sympathise too, I get very stressed about normal driving so when anything 'extra' happens I feel like I just can't do it! I usually force myself to do it though and it is usually not as bad as I thought. I bet you are totally capable you just THINK you aren't. This is what I'm like. Paul McKenna has done a recording you can download from his website to help with fear of driving. I found this helped me a little bit.

Are you a generally anxious person? I am. Driving is one of my worst things though.

Just thought of something else. I sometimes get anxious about DH driving but a thought that comforts me is - think about how many years he has been driving and how much driving he does and in all that time he hasn't had an accident so he must be quite competent at it.

I'm trying to think a similar thing about when I'm anxious about the children eg when they are playing upstairs out of my sight I feel anxious that they are going to get hurt. If I think about how many times they have played upstairs before and nothing bad has happened I feel a bit better.
