I'm sure this question must have been asked before, but do any of you have experience of weight changes whilst on SSRIs? I've been on them before for up to a year at a time and noticed that I actually lost weight in the first couple of months and then it slowly crept back up and eventually I ended up quite a few pounds heavier than I was before I started taking them.

This time I've been on Sertraline for almost two months and am nearly half a stone down - great! But don't think it will last. If you did start putting on weight, was there anything that controlled it and what pills were you on and for how long? Apart from this side-effect they're doing me the world of good, I feel calm and rational again.

I have been taking citalopram since Sept 2007 and weigh more than i did before taking it - about 10.5 stone rather than 9.5 stone.

Am slowly coming off it and do seem to have lost some weight without really trying iykwim.

How long were you on sertaline lara? And Idris, that was exactly the weight I started and finished at last time. Trying not to worry too much as I'm feeling consistently good for the first time in ages. No more crippling anxiety!

I lost a few pounds due to lose of appetite when I was on citalopram. After a couple of months I reduced the dosage, got my appetite back & put the weight back on & a few extra pounds. I think AD's mess you up - I'm still in not a great place, but prefer to feel the rawness & try to resolve what's wrong, than feel in a constant fog.
My dr is desperate for me to take it, but I seem to have wasted almost a year after having this.
I'm taking an amino acid at the moment, called 5htp, which is a great mood elevator, without any side effects.
