No advice needed really. I know the drill i know what I'm doing I just can't shake the guilt.

Become an over night carer for my son. He has severe mental health problems but is turning into a revolving door kind of patient.

I manage all of his affairs I've got him accommodation, benefits, pip claims. Just hoping this is the final time. This time will be a section 3, so a longer stay the first 2 were so traumatic for him and me to watch

Has anyone been through this with their child?

I don’t have any experience of this however have had three years of a sibling in and out of phycosis and it’s terrifying and I really feel for you as a parent seeing this and being out of control of the situation

a massive hand hold from me op.

it’s so draining

I work in a place where people on section live. A team approach can be hugely helpful...

I've got some good support from the mental health team I have a good relationship with them. I'm usually their first point of contact (son gone awol and I'm the only person with eyes on him as I'm pretending that I don't have contact with them.

He's recently been awarded PIP. I can't even tell him as it's not safe to give him the cash incase he books a flight or buys lots of drugs. I'm also right at the beginning of trying to get deputyship. It's so hard! All I want to do is to be able to talk to the dvla on his behalf not sell a mansion haha.

Thank you for the hand hold. My family are sympathetic but I don't think they get the full picture

Update. After several weeks waiting, different attempts and a police warrant the full shebang. It was deemed necessary that he met the criteria for hospital treatment and given a section 2. Then despite no communication with myself or his community team. A psychiatrist decided he was fine and discharged him. 15 hours later.

My son has since made this experience a part of his delusions, and it's enforced it further. So made things worse. There's been complaints internally raised due to this.

Yes my adult son was sectioned a few months ago. Section one I think to begin with where they could keep him for 28 days then section two where they could keep him for 6 months. I went on holiday knowing he was safe but they released him whilst I was away just 8 days into the section two. He’s doing ok now but it’s such a worry.

You have my sympathy 💐

Thank you, it happened a few days ago, a mum's net add popped up and I saw my post from a few weeks back so I thought I'd update. I was foaming at the mouth a couple of days ago ready to punch a total stranger in the face for thinking they knew better than both the psychiatrist that has known him 8 months and his own mother that's known him over 20+ years 😄 I've called down now but it's such an odd position to be in. There's not much parental guidance about but lots of professionals (who mainly are amazing! )
