I've suffered from panic attacks on and off for a few years. After losing my my dad I suffered almost back to back panic attacks for two years. I. got therapy and things got better.
I had about 18 months of no attacks until about 6 months ago when I had perhaps 5 or similar episodes in the space of say 5 months.
I honestly thought I was fine until last night. I drove to a local shop to pick up some provisions. Upon stepping out of my car I became paralysed on the spot. I couldnr move and was almost convulsing. I thought I was going to fall over so I had to crouch on the road on all fours. I called for help and thankfully after a few minutes someone helped me up and walked me to the shop where the shopkeeper gave me a glass of water.
The thing that concerns me is that there was no trigger to this episode, it literally came from nowhere.
Can anyone relate to this and or give support and or advice as to why this happened?

If there was no trigger, no thought that prompted this attack then I would suggest you talk to your doctor (and stress that this was entirely a physical episode rather than a physical reaction to a mental panic) to check for any neurological conditions.

What is that? Until about 4 years ago never had a panic attack. I've tried for years to get support. I have battled with NHS to get help and had a support worker, just meet for a cuppa and 20 sessions of counselling from a charitable organisation who were great. I think Adhd might be not be tge only problem

My gp prescribed propanolol which helps, and I have promethazine for anxiety off the psych. I had one a little while ago, as I was about to get out of the car to go into head office. I ended up phoning my manager who done breathing with me until it passed. Now I'm one of these people who doesn't give two hoots about people knowing I suffer with anxiety, panic attacks and bipolar, so I told the office manager what had happened when I went in, as I was still all out of sorts, and she made me promise to call her if it ever happened again and she would come out to me as she has experience of them due to a family member. But it came on from no where. No trigger. No worries. Just bang it happened. Bloody horrible things! Def go back to your GP.

About 40 years ago my then boyfriend said he thought I had bipolar. My grown up kid said the same a few years ago. Its nigh on impossible to get mental health support in the UK now. I know my problems aren't purely down to have adhd. I really do have adhd and I suspect its inherited. Two relatives have bipolar. One is in hospital at the moment and is also neurodivergent.

Propranolol is a beta blocker. Slows down your heart rate so if it goes crazy high it automatically drops it helping to stop the panic feeling and calming you down. You can take it every day or a couple of hours before going somewhere where you think you might get symptoms, events dentist etc.
Worth a chat with your GP about it and other things which might help. It’s so debilitating and scary but medication can definitely help.
