Does anyone get a 'comedown' after they've been really excited?

So recently I've gotten into some new ventures and started making some money through them. But I've noticed I get so over excited about doing them then at some point during or after I feel a 'down', like a comedown.

I used to be a performer before I had kids and it's comparable as I used to get the same thing then. It used to mess with my head truth be told.

I can't be the only one that gets this kind of post excitement depressive funk? What goes up must come down right? Any tips to get through the funk? I'mmostlypretty level the rest of the time. Maybe it's just adjusting to new experiences.

Maybe it's an adrenaline rush then you slow down back to normal

Yes. I hate it. And it's getting worse with age.

I'm learning to moderate my excitement so that I'm more in control of the highs and then have less of a come down. But if something is unexpectedly exciting, I have a lovely time then . . . crash.

100%. I have adhd. So if I have for example a brilliant night out with friends, I'll be on a real downer about 12 hours later, it's the drop of hormones like oxytocin, serotonin etc.

My default baseline is actually quite low.

But think you can get round it by having transition activities.

Yes I do. I try and keep my highs in check and make sure I have calming activities like walking to help refocus my mood. I'm also on long term meds for anxiety and depression which really helps.

Thank you glad it's not just me. Yes I think it's the shifts in your brain chemistry that nervous excitement gives you.

The good thing about having young kids is that they distract you. Hopefully going forward I'll get less 'high' and be more balanced.
