Constant worries about things being on fire etc I have to take pictures to prove I’ve turned things off. Worry that I’ve done things wrong eg hurt someone. Or could this be my Qutiapine causing it all?

Do you have a diagnosis of psychosis as you are already on Quetiapine?

I don’t know anything about the medication you’re on, but what you’re describing sounds similar to OCD. Definitely speak to someone - GP, therapist etc - because OCD is sneaky and you can find your life getting smaller and smaller very rapidly. At least if you speak to someone they can rule it out or refer you on. Hope you’re okFlowers

Thank you I did speak to someone but unfortunately she shut me down as she asked me if I do a lot of cleaning and I don’t but it’s quite a narrowminded stereotype.

Goodness, that’s a terrible way to try and decide if someone might have OCD. But sadly it’s pretty typical of people’s ignorance. Even many therapists are completely out of their depth with OCD and don’t have a clue about all the different ways it can manifest itself.

Have you asked your psychiatrist about those symptoms?

Yes that was her that made the comment

Well she’s not very cognisant about OCD is she? OCD doesn’t have to have anything to do with cleaning. My friends’ son was hospitalised for over four months with OCD - his was more along the lines of self harming.
So many people say ‘oh that’s my OCD’ because they don’t like leaving a dirty mug in the sink, for example, but that’s not it. Your fear would have to be intrusive and persistent , the compulsion repetitive - like not just checking once but over and over again. You might feel personal responsibility for preventing fires. The thoughts are unwanted and distressing and makes you feel out of control.
If you think it really is affecting you I think you need to bring it up again with your psychiatrist and phrase it such a way (like above) so that they will take it seriously. I googled Quetiapine (I assume that is what you mean) and obsessive compulsive behaviours were not mentioned as a normal side effect, which tend to be physical, but read the info supplied with the drug.
