SNRI V SSRI

Has anyone got experience on the above? I’m going to go back to my GP to see about anti depressants. I’ve been on various SSRI’s and whilst they’ve maybe taken edge of my mood etc I’ve not felt much effect. I’m open to potentially getting pregnant 6-12 months time so aware that I think duloxetine is one of ones from SNRI that is safe in pregnancy.

my mood is awful, I’ve been getting quite severe PMS symptoms to the point of feeling suicidal, anxious, overwhelmed and I just feel mentally exhausted and drained.

Ive never liked the weight side effects and I’ve lost a lot of weight lately so reluctant to go on the likes of sertraline or citilopram.

I’ve done my own research, it’s up to GP at the end of the day but I just wanted to do my background and to get some understanding from others.

Yes, venlafaxine. I believe it saved my life. Turned down the suicidal ideations and allowed me to live my life.

Duloxetine I’m afraid isn’t safe during pregnancy, I was on it for 2 years prior to pregnancy and I had to change over to Fluoxetine, however this worked fine, I didn’t find it as good as duloxetine and after I finished breastfeeding I went back on to duloxetine.
it’s hard to say which is better as each person reacts differently, but I did fine these two worked well.

I think it's a very individual thing, how you react to various anti depressants. I was put on fluoxetine during pregnancy (was great) sertraline while breastfeeding (difficult to get the right dose) cirtalepram (worked until anxiety became main feature) and then duloxetine (great for anxiety but gave me the worst physical side effects and was hard for me to withdraw from.) 13 years down the road, I'm now 6 months off any antidepressants and doing fine -i didn't ever think I'd be saying that.

So ultimately, you need to see your GP, tell them your issues, and your hopes to conceive in the year. Your mental health would be my priority, as pregnancy doesn't usually improve MH, you're better of starting from a stable footing. And from your side of the equation, set out what you can do within your control to improve: counselling, exercise, work/life balance, domestic affairs, relationships etc. They are all really important elements as well as medication.

There is life worth living with medication, sometimes there is life after medication. I hope you find something that works for you, know that you're not on your own.

Ditto venafalaxinr

Unsurr about safety in pregnancy . I did have to have ecg prior to going on it as it can affect heart rate
