Can anybody recommend how to get started in journalling? No idea where to start but want to have a go. Really struggling with health anxiety and worrying about a condition I’ve just been diagnosed with!

Do you mean bullet journalling to track anxiety/mental wellbeing or more documenting your mental health in depth?

I bullet journal which helps with my anxiety and OCD, you literally need a notebook and a pen, that’s it! I find it hugely beneficial

Search for inspiration on Pinterest, Instagram or TikTok, that’s what I do

@InMyHealthyEra Thanks for replying. I’m not sure really. I’ve just heard journalling is really beneficial for mental health so thought I would give it a go! Has it helped you?

There's a page on Facebook called journalling for mental health which is really good and has lots of folders for getting starting and journal prompts. Other than that just get your note book and a pen and start writing, it hasnt got to be neat and pretty, its for your eyes only. Pinterest is also really good for ideas and prompts. Even just doing a page of positive affirmations or quotes if you not sure what to write, I also write down poems and quotes that resonate with how im feeling. Or another good way is a brain dump, write down whats on your mind, you dont have to come up with answers sometimes just getting it out of your mind helps

I write a diary every day and find it really helpful writing about what’s happened (also makes a fantastic record of your life). The act of writing things out really does help me process things. But you could try different approaches: gratitude, issues you want to work on, good things that happened, things you could have done differently.

I think it depends what sort of person you are. Some diligently journalist every day, some occasionally. There are prompts available on the internet. For me personally, I just write for a few minutes getting everything going around in my mind, down on paper and then shredding it.
if you’re worrying about a diagnosis it’s worth looking for support groups on social media that may help to “meet” others in your situation

I write in a notebook every morning when I am having breakfast. Usually a combination of how I feel, What's on my mind and mundane stuff like what I did the day before and what I am planning to do that day. It does not have to long or complicated but it is just part of my routine now and I find it helpful. I think it might be that when I put things down on paper it helps get them out of my mind so I can stop ruminating about them and somehow it makes problems easier to deal with.
