Dealing with poor medical experiences

First, I have had a number of poor experiences with medics, several misdiagnoses and lack of thought/kindness, so I find it hard to trust them. Last year I was referred to surgeons because of gallstones. The first doctor I saw said I was at higher risk of DVT (wheelchair user), and some people get psychosis after an anaesthetic, so they wouldn't do it as day surgery, but would keep me in. I asked for time to think about it. A few months later I got a call from the consultant whose clinic it was, saying I'm far too high risk and to eat a low fat diet. He was quite aggressive, which I find hard. The low fat diet isn't really helping. Today my GP said she'd be happy to refer me back and ask them to do an anaesthetic review, but I'm really not sure. On one hand the pain is difficult for me, on the other hand I find going into hospital/having an operation very stressful because of my previous experiences and because of my physical and MH issues, and my autism. This is worsened when I've had a bad experience. I'm not sure what to do.

@AllBranEater I don't have any advice but I do want to say that this sounds really hard.
I hope you find a way to get the care and treatment you need.
