Wasting days off

I have 4 children, 2 living at home. I work full time and when I get a day off I always plan on getting loads done but then end up wasting the day by sleeping. I ended up having 3 drinks last night and then feel guilty and useless next day even though I don’t get drunk

Can you reframe this?

You haven’t wasted a day.

Your body needed to rest and recharge and that’s what you’ve done?

Full time work plus kids plus emotional stuff with those not in the house is exhausting!!!

You do a lot already and shouldn't feel guilty for sleeping because your body obviously needs it. Is this a weekday when the kids are at school?

Resting is doing . It is doing your body good.

That said, I am guilty of this. I can justify reading a book which is also restful.

Sometimes I do give in and sleep if I am too tired to concentrate on reading

As above, you did not waste the day at all. You spent it doing what you wanted to do, which just happened to be resting. Which is good and healthy.
