I was wondering if people wouldn’t mind sharing their honest experiences of taking medication for anxiety long term?
Since a child I’ve coped with anxiety, ocd and at times insomnia.
I've had a lot of counselling and I do “cope” but it never really goes away.

I go back and fourth wondering if I want to try medication.

For me I don’t think I’d be taking it for a few years it would be more a life long thing because I have honestly had years and years of counselling.
I know my baseline is anxious.

I can't comment on medication but I would advise you to have a look at the Ted X "how not to feel anxious about anxiety". Many people believe anxiety to be a disorder or personality defect; it's not – it's an emotion and, with it, most of wouldn't survive to the end of this week.

I'm a bit similar to you @elephantfeetbutdontcareand I've been taking citalopram for a few months now but I really don't know if it's making a difference. I started on 10mg and upped it to 20mg. I'm reluctant to go higher, just incase I get that numb feeling I've heard about.

Basically I dont think anything will change us, anxiety seems to always be on the back burner for me.
