Over the years I’ve tried various SSRIs, cbt, counselling, hypnotherapy but nothing has worked.
Citalopram maybe had a small effect but I was worried about thf potential heart issues if I ever had to take antibiotics.
Any advice please? TIA 😊

I've had fluexotine, mirtazapine maxed out on those and they stopped working.
Sertraline I'm on for the second time 100mg turn's off the constant chatter where I could go over and over the same thing for days and once that was concluded something else would pop in to replace it.

What was the original case of the anxiety? Finding and resolving that is the best long term solution.

My DH found group therapy the most helpful thing. Hearing that he wasn't alone and that other perfectly regular people like him suffered the same was such a comfort. He enjoyed the meetings (he has social anxiety so this is saying something) and the shared experiences of other people gave him loads of things to try.
Getting an allotment also helped him. The hard work, planning, purpose and distraction and long days in the outdoors with the dog gave him a calm he couldn't find elsewhere.

It's horrible OP. I hope someone here suggests something that helps.

If you have the time watch Georgia Ede's talk on YOuTUbe called 'What is nutritional and metabolic psychiatry?'
It is a very interesting specialty and she explains how psychiatrists can treat mental health/brain health with fairly simple dietary interventions.
It's about an hour and very interesting.

My friend swears by hypnotherapy. The first one she saw didn't work but the second one really helped her. I think sometimes it just depends on who you see if they resonate with you X

Acceptance commitment therapy and stoicism / humour for anxiety.

Coaching for overthinking.

I don't have OCD although the overthinking veers into it - probably overall is just lowering my standards and giving myself a break, sort of trying to treat myself like I am my own friend when I remember!
