Sertraline and sex

I have just started taking sertraline for anxiety, and only after a few tablets feel like it is having an impact on my sex life, which was never an issue before. The dr told me it could be a side effect but implied it wasn’t a very common one, but seems like it’s more of an issue than I was advised. I’ve never taken anything like this before and am questioning my decision and feel torn as to whether to continue, but think if it ifs happening now it’s not going to get better again once the medication settles into my system. Anyone else have any experience with this?

Oh yes, I tried antidepressants when I was young over ten years ago.

I stopped all of them because they all had the same impact on me. I couldn't climax or feel sexual pleasure.

As soon as I stopped the medication, the feeling came back. But whilst on them, there was no sensation at all. I did a bit of research and said that actually, if you stay on these long term, there can be long term implications for your sex life.

For me, the potential benefits of the medication did not outweigh the risks. And I stop them all within a few days.

Tried messing around with different drugs, but they all did the same thing.

Yes - they stoped desire and climax. But they saved my life so worth it .

This is absolutely common - I know a few this has happened with including a couple who took ages to get their libido back. But overall are they having a positive impact?
there are also other medications you could try

I'd focus on what creates anxiety before taking meds. Quick fixes aren't always the right way.

I do have a call today as an initial assessment for some talking therapy, so hopefully I’ll be able to do some CBT soon, which of course I would rather rely on as opposed to medication, especially when there are negative side effects.

I’m not sure if they are having an impact or not as I’ve only just starting taking them 😩
