I've been having therapy for almost 2 years since losing my dad. Started out quite open an found it easy to share. Now i’m going backwards and am closing up again. Anyone else? I'm limited to the time frame I can see them because it is being subsidised. Anyone have an techniques for opening up? I was thinking about bringing in photos or something. I have made some headway but just feels like the tip of the iceberg

Can you say this much to your therapist and see what she thinks or if she has any suggestions.

I have found this happens during therapy at times. I think it’s always worth a discussion with your therapist as to why.

Agree that you should raise it with the therapist so you can identify what the block is together.

Sometimes it might be a change in the dynamic, maybe you're approaching something that's more painful to talk about even subconsciously, maybe you've hit a plateau for now and need some more processing time before you're ready to go into harder or deeper things. If you've been open and committed to the process and found it genuinely helpful so far then I'd definitely raise it with them. My guess is they'll have dealt with this before and will be able to work through it with you.

I find it easier to talk over Zoom. Feels a bit intense doing in person sessions. I can be more vulnerable in my own space.

When I used to actually physically go to therapy I would sometimes write in a journal and allow my therapist to read sections of it.
