Switched from citilopram to esctilopram

Hi all,

looking for some advice. I had been on 20mg citilopram for around 12 years.

recently I found it not to be as good for me and my anxiety was slightly bad again. So did some research and switched to esctilopram 10mg. I switched 8 weeks ago and I feel more anxious than ever.

is this normal? Should I switch back to citilopram? Do you think I should feel like this after 8 weeks. My panic attacks have started coming back.
any advice would be so appreciated xx

They are the same drug it might be that a different antidepressants all together might be better for you.

In nature there is symmetry and this so replicated in drugs to as they have symmetry in their shapes too. The type of symmetry they have is mirror symmetry like your hands. Citalopram has both hands one of which is the active one and the other which isn't. Escitalopram only has the active hand.

It's probably worth making an appointment with your prescribing doctor for a medication review and a plan moving forward.

Do you have much support for your anxiety?

Thanks for your response, really appreciate it!
i really heard so many good things about esctilopram so I was just so hoping it would work but the fact it’s been 11 weeks makes me think it won’t?
citlopram worked well for years and maybe in hindsight I shouldn’t have changed but I just haven’t felt right in a long time.
im so scared to change to another completely different one in case my anxiety gets worse. I just constantly think I’m going to have a heart attack.
my husband is a great support and I’m looking into getting CBT therapy again.
going to make an appointment with the doctor tomorrow.
