If anyone has anything to share that would help/ give hope to people who have experienced psychosis or their family & friends, please post here.
I have posted before and got some good advice.
My adult DD suffered a psychotic break out of nowhere around 18 months ago. Third anti psychotic has worked in that she no longer believes she is being followed/drugged but can't shake off the thought that it did happen. She therefore feels she cannot move on despite having a good degree.
Hopefully we can support each other as it can be a very lonely place to be.

So pleased she’s made some progress. Must’ve been really frightening for you all.

Thank you Theextraordinaryisintheordinary.
It has been the most stressful 18 months that we have had to deal with, especially as she believes me & DH were involved with drugging her.

When I had psychosis last year, I believed that I was in an alternative universe. Even though I am recovered now, I still have the memories of being 'there' that are very real to me as it was something I actually experienced, although it wasn't actually real.Hope this makes sense as it is probably what your DD is experiencing too.

Is she under the care of EIP? They are very helpful.

I'm 5yrs on from my diagnosis. Apparently, I may have symptoms and need to be medicated for the rest of my life. I was with EIP for 3yrs and now have weekly visits from the CMHT.

I live alone and have installed cameras all over my house, inside and out. This helps when I hear things. I can check the cameras to see if it's real or imaginary. I've also got another dog since my previous one died. This dog barks if a woodlouse farts so is also very grounding!

My paranoia is still very real and I know I frustrate people. But my convictions are absolutely justified to me. Love me, love my quirks!

I hope your daughter receives all the support she deserves, also that this is a passing phase for her, not a lifetime one. But, if it is, she'll find her way.

I have therapy for ptsd from my psychosis, I highly recommend it. Really helped me get past it

Hi Dino, she is under EIP, but only engages bare minimum since she doesnt believe that she was ill. We are in Scotland so only lasts 2 years and will be coming to an end soon. This also worries me as she does not accept that she had psychosis and being followed/drugged actually happened. She is on CTO.
It's great that you are managing your symptoms and living your life. Many thanks
